Friday evening & we found ourselves in Germany for an 1813 engagement with #6mm miniatures & the #Volley&Bayonet rules. This time Ney commanded an army comprising French, Poles & Bavarians. Opposite, was an Austrian army under Schwarzenberg. Another outstanding game at the end of a busy week.

Last weekend four excellent Wars of the Roses games against my son using #DBA with #15mm miniatures. Alas, the war must continue when next we see him. I may have to stop losing my commander who was cut down in three of the four battles.

Friday evening we revisited the 1809 Campaign with #6mm miniatures & the excellent #Volley&Bayonet rules. A French & Saxon attack shattered the Austrian left & forced back their centre. Yet Austrian resolve stiffened. In the coming hours the French were forced to give ground. An outstanding game!

Friday evening’s Napoleonic game was set in 1809. Using #6mm miniatures with the #Volley&Bayonet rules the Austrians were bought to battle by Napoleon. Adding their determination to the battle were the Saxons. Finally, after a hard fought battle, the Austrians accepted defeat. Another great game.

Photos of a recent WWII naval encounter (December 1939) between the Kriegsmarine & Royal Navy. The light cruisers Koln & Konigsburg, supported by four destroyers, engaged HMS Enterprise, Emerald & six destroyers. Tragically HMS Enterprise was lost. #NavalThunder #1/3000th #NavalWargaming

This week time for some #15mm #DBA for four players. The armies deployed included Gauls, Polybian Romans, Seleucids, Vikings, Anglo-Saxons & two Japanese armies. All games against historical opponent. Photos of Seleucids vs Romans & Japanese of the Sengoku Jidai period. A great evening indeed!

Friday evening & time for a Franco-Prussian War engagement using #Volley&Bayonet. Initially the French were concentrated & pressed the Prussians strung out in march column. However Prussian resolve held the initial French attacks until reinforcements deployed. #6mm #FPW

Friday evening & time to revisit the Punic Wars using DBA. Three stirring games followed which found the Polybian Romans securing vicitory twice. A most enjoyable evening indeed. #15mm #DBA

Falklands War - 44 years ago today attacks on East Falklands begin. Following the Vulcan raid task force Harriers attack. Then the "Three Musketeers" (HMS Glamorgan, Alacrity & Arrow) conduct a daylight bombardment of enemy positions. They in turn attacked by Dagger jets. #1/3000th #FalklandsWar

HMS Invincible & some of her Sea Harriers. The Sea Harriers attacking the airfields were from HMS Hermes. Invincible's Harriers meanwhile provided combat air patrols. Models, including aircraft, are by Navwar and in 1/3000th scale.

A selection of photos from two recent #15mm #DBA games. In the first Sumatrian & Malay armies fought desperately - both with determined warriors & rampaging elephants. In the second Carthaginians & Romans sought domination of the Mediterranean. Two outstanding games.

Friday evening found American & German forces engaged in a determined action in late 1944 using the #Spearhead rules & #1/300th miniatures. Both commanders determined on a turning action. With the result unclear we continue the action this Friday. A few photos to set the scene. #WWII #Wargaming

Friday evening & a return to the Hundred Days Campaign. The mood was tense as congested roads delayed French deployments. With d'Erlon's corps under immense pressue the French Guard & heavy cavalry were eventually thrown forward. Alas, victory for the French remained elusive. #Volley&Bayonet #6mm

June 1863 #6mm #Volley&Bayonet. The Union turned the Rebel right while guns battered the centre. Pickett’s Division would take heavy losses in the centre while Hood moved to bolster the flank. On the Union right, French’s III Corps took heavy casualties holding a stream against Ewell’s assault.

The Federal Centre: Warren’s II Corps anchoring the line as the heavy fighting began.

Longstreet’s Hammer: The Confederate centre, including Pickett's mauled brigades, before they were forced back.

Ewell’s Approach: Infantry & artillery from Ewell’s Corps pushing towards the Union right, with units still in road column as they move to assault French’s thin line at the stream.

The Royal Navy has been engaged off the Libyan coast. It’s 1983 & Gaddafi had ordered a Foxtrot submarines to sea. While RN helicopters search relentlessly frigates cover two merchantmen, all while the Soviets observe. Finally Libyan MIG-23 attempt a strike, though it is beaten off. #NavalWargaming

A stirring American Civil War using #Volley&Bayonet rules with #6mm miniatures. A fictional encounter found Lee initially on the offensive with two large & concentrated Rebel corps. Opposite three much smaller Union corps seemed outmatched until the arrival of a fourth corps on the Rebel left.

Three La Combattante IIa-class vessels depart the shipyards for foreign service. In Libyan service they are known as Beir Grassa-class vessels.
