A comment we received about congestion pricing. Subway riders pay $3 to go home. And that's per person, so a family of four pays $24 to ride the subway round trip. The same family in a car would pay only $9 since the congestion fee only applies in one direction.

oh and btw congestion pricing is not working for manhattan car owners. we are being singled out. would you like to pay $9 to go home? probably not.

The only example given of a cyclist doing something against a driver involves someone who threw their bike at a car, "damaging its hood." Who knows what happened, but that's the point! We're not saying throwing one's bike is appropriate, but what did the driver do in the moments leading up to this?

In an extreme example in February, police in Santa Ana, California, said a man threw a bicycle at a car in traffic, damaging its hood.

“I don't think either side really thinks about the other’s perspective" strikes us as a very odd thing to say in a country where nearly every person who rides a bike, especially for recreation, probably also owns a car while it is probably not true that most car owners also ride bikes regularly.

One one side you have people who just want to enjoy a nice bike ride without being injured or killed. On the other side you have people who become homicidal at the mere sight of cyclists or having to slow down for a few seconds. But "Road rage can go both ways."

Road rage can go both ways
Motor vehicle drivers can become angry at bike riders when they feel the cyclists have breached their expectations on the road, Dwight Hennessy, chair and professor of psychology at Buffalo State University, said.

Bikes are inherently much slower than cars, and car drivers are inclined to go as fast as the road conditions will allow. While car drivers may see bikes as in their way, bicyclists are concerned for their safety and may regard drivers getting too close as "driving like a maniac on the road and not paying attention to me," he said.
