Clarification: The character that has entered public domain (either this year or next year, depending) is "Ogon Batto" from the kamishibai Japanese paper theatre shows in 1931. The design in the quoted post is from the 1967 Golden Bat anime, which won't be in public domain until I believe the 2060s.
Technically the first joystick I used was a CH Products Mach II, but the stick I really cut my teeth on 90s flight and space sims with (and the one, to this day, I compare every stick to) is the Thrustmaster Flight Control System Mark I. The perfect mix of functionality and ergonomics.
