I currently don't have a dog but I would like to get a dog.
my beautiful pickled beets (9 pints). I love pickled beets on salad but buying them in the store is legitimately much more expensive than making them myself, especially since our farmshare has provided an endless supply of beets lately
the flashbacks to Grace's life on earth are in 2:35:1, but the current timeline on the Hail Mary is all in 16:9/1:7:1. then there's an occasional light rays effect over the flashbacks/memories that blur into the black boxes on the 2:35:1 shots, like so:
yesterday during Wildfire Smoke Hours I needed an indoor activity so I picked all the black currants from the bushes in our backyard (while wearing a mask!) and then made black currant jam. It's rustic (aka, I didn't strain out the seeds and skins) but I did blend it, and it's super interesting
girl you know I got you whenever a fun language meme goes around
rhubarb rhubarb! picked, washed, chopped, stewed, canned. though I left some in the fridge to eat later. perfect on toast with butter or on vanilla ice cream
I just want someone to appreciate how funny I am when I design a syllabus. This set of readings paired together makes me laugh every time I look at it
trying to upload all the signed versions of my festivids but we're having a very "I consent!" "I consent!" "I don't!" situation with the AO3 at the moment
I did a project on tv/film copaganda a while ago, and one of the most telling things I found was from the 1917 Charlie Chaplin film Easy Street, in which a woman chides Chaplin's police officer character and says "but you promised to reform!" It just goes round and round, decade after decade.
it's just the vomit emoji over and over for me. it'd be farcical if it weren't also fucking dangerous
YUP! or like this poem (sorry, can't alt-text atm) (it's a poem called "ChatGPT fucks my wife")
got some books from @roomofonesownbooks.bsky.social in the mail! I usually shop at my local indie, which is also great, but I try to buy a few things from Room now and then just because I adore them. I'm looking forward to the Rivers Solomon one especially, as I loved An Unkindness of Ghosts
Introduce yourself with four spaceships (yes two are from Star Trek, I couldn't pick)
very occasionally, if you are quiet and patient, you can observe one in the wild:
today's the one-year anniversary of the day we lost Rorschach. I miss my boy. He was the best boy.
I only recently realized that the Lower Decks opening credits take this scene directly from TNG's Realm of Fear (in which the Enterprise is assisting the crew of the USS Yosemite (get it), a science vessel that got stuck in the plasma stream). Lower Decks you are an unending delight
lately I think a lot about this New American Movement poster from the seventies. as true now as it was then. (NAM is a precursor of the DSA)
just want to point out that this middle section is exclusively Magnus Archives Scottish Safehouse fic (tho the sex is usually kissing. otherwise it's right on)
literally I have a shirt that says MAKE BAD ART lol there's also the Cheap Art Manifesto (sorry, not image described, I gotta go to work)
here's the outfit he was wearing when about to use his saddle, hope that clears things up
trekkies: if you see this, post your first experience with Star Trek. (this is tough because I know I watched a lot of TNG as a kid that I don't remember, but this is the first episode I have a very concrete memory of watching when it aired. because it FREAKED ME THE HELL OUT)
omg honey lavender ice cream sounds amazing! here's the recipe (from my stepmother).
