I feel like this is a mistake? Don't see city DOTs doing this often these days... DDOT resurfacing the 1200-1300 blocks of 6th St NE and *adding" in a 2nd southbound travel lane. This is approaching unprotected crossings at Neal & Morse + immediately at the world's premier University for the Deaf.

Not the specific purpose I had expected at the time we were renaming White Flint Metro, but I'm on the shuttle at the Friendship Heights station and having separate buses for Bethesda and for North Bethesda is REALLY confusing a lot of people naming-wise.

It's intriguing to see an inlet along the side of a center-drain alley. I'm sure if I looked at a drainage plan it'd make sense; I suspect it has to do with it being pretty steep & maybe for the design storm the center drain becomes inundated?

Additionally these portable lights apparently aren't supposed to be used in rain, except maybe if the rain is also a library, nor near crosses lest they attract divine wrath.

After OUC asked that I send in specific issues with 311 I sent them the following on May 13th (no response has yet been received)

What is OUC's timeline for fixing 311, and what issues are they aware of? Some of the things I'd love for the app to address:

1) Missed Taps and Lag - Eliminate missed taps & lag for those using a phone. As an example: if I type "555" my phone's haptic feedback will trigger each time but it'll only input just 5 or 55. If I want to type "555" I'll have to press 5 usually five or six times. (This only started happening over the past year.)

2) Mobile Keyboard Hitboxes - The 311 app appears to reshape the hitboxes for keyboard presses. As an example: I can press the number 9 but consistently input the letter P. This happens across the entire keyboard & I don't have this issue in any other apps. (This only started happening over the past year.)

3) Restore Swipe-Typing - Being able to swipe-type on a phone instead of only being able to tap letters individually. (this functionality was removed at some point in the past year)

4) Auto-Location - The app used to automatically use photos' location data to pinpoint the location on the next page, but for the past year or so that functionality has stopped working.

5) Attach Multiple Media - Add the ability to attach multiple photos+videos at once instead of one at a time.

6) Failed Submissions - Sometimes an entry with multiple photos+videos will fail to submit, and will never succeed no matter how many times I try to submit.

7) Addressing System - Change 311 addressing away from the address-based system and to a coordinate-based system. Many locations don't have a viable address & it frequently results in crews going to the wrong location when they don't read the descriptions.

8) Address Fine-Tuning - Change the map tool to keep the target point centered in the view, so we can pan to fine-tune the correct location.

9) Customize Suggestions - Allow users to customize the four "Suggested" options on the 311 homepage. They never reflect any of the things I submit almost daily.

10) Pause Option - Add a Pause option for 311 tickets for things which cannot be resolved at the present time. An example might be where a request for new pavement markings is submitted in December, but DDOT can't do anything until springtime. This can reduce issues with tickets being closed without any action, but not penalize agencies for keeping tickets open past their due date.

11) Current Handler - For existing 311 requests: add the contact info for the current handler/owner of the request.

12) Request Streamlining - Streamline requests: many ask for the same info repeatedly, particularly contact information (which auto-fills on the final submittal page, anyway). Many other requests (such as for things like sidewalk repair or tree pruning) have nonsensical inputs & options, or they lack options for things I regularly want to submit for.

13) Whitespace Reduction - Reduce whitespace to make it easier to quickly input requests by phone. Move the "Next" buttons to the right side of the inputs rather than absorbing vertical space beneath them.

14) Illegal Construction; DDOT - Adjust the "Illegal Construction" request to properly route DDOT issues to DDOT instead of DOB.

15) Request Forwarding - Add the ability for 311 requests to be forwarded to other recipients. As with my previous bullet: if only DOB could/would forward things to DDOT it would be a huge help.

16) HAID Media Forwarding - Ensure "How's Am I Driving" requests pass all attached media onto the recipients. Every agency that follows up on HAID requests with me never seems to have access to photos, video, nor any additional text information that I had added to the 311 ticket.

17) QA Monitoring Resubmittals & Surveys - Add program monitoring to look for cases where 311 tickets are closed, but the same issue is resubmitted -- indicating that an agency may be prematurely closing things without acting on them.

Also this 63-21 showing for White almost inevitably defeating Pinto is a little surprising (I thought Pinto would get at least 30% first round?) and pretty exciting for what has generally become a rather low-stakes / low-interest job. Hopefully White brings a little more action to the role.
