Lots of interests - really too many to list (bicycling, hiking, Sci-fi, Gardening, etc) . Still learning how this all works. Navy Submarine Vet, Mizzou J-School, Babson MBA. Currently working at Microsoft; Toots are my own. Preferred pronouns he/him/his.
You inspired me to take this one on Sunday. 100mm and I forgot the other settings.
Thank you @riaudubon.bsky.social and tribute band Playing Dead. Fun set list and fun evening.
Definition of a fun fundraiser at the @riaudubon.bsky.social Grateful Dead cover band Playin' Dead is playing to a good crowd helping raise money to support RI Audubon. Even got to tie-dye a shirt. #RhodeIsland #Birds #GratefulDead
Death Valley in July is really something. 119 at Stovepipe Wells today. The heat is almost beyond comprehension. They have pot holders on door handles because the metal gets so hot.
Obligatory Holiday meat smoking. Overnight sous vide for 16 hours (lazy short cut) followed by several hours for a smoke ring. Vibes are different this year, esp compared to Bicentennial. Hoping we can start living up to our best ideals because it feels like they are slipping away.
Finally got a chance to smell the corpse flower in person. It was a lovely day to spend 3 hours in line to see, and smell, the Corpse Flower at the U of Rhode Island.
We recently invested in a set of jars with labels for side and top. We are temporarily living where we can only have one drawer handy. This is what we did. Also the ADHD brain of the person who put the labels on means some read top to bottom and others bottom to top. Also half-heartedly sorted.
Big plant sale today at the Southside Community Land Trust City farm. 65 varieties of tomatoes, over 30 varieties of peppers, and so many more plants. Today and tomorrow. I'll be in tomato sauce action. #Providence #plants #gardening
Once my stash of Cholula is depleted, I'll just be using the Lao Gan Ma Spicy chili crisp on everything.
This sign at the #Smithsonian Museum of American History is hitting a little different this days.
So much snow here in Rhode Island. 32+ inches. It just kept coming all day. Took me 3+ hours to dig out the cars and another 2 inches dropped while I was shoveling.
For the record I miss snow days. 17"+ of snow and I still have hours of meetings because the other attendees don't have as much, or any snow. The upside of all that snow is after I finish digging out this evening I won't need a separate workout.
Lovely ride just ahead of the rain this evening. Picture of course doesn't do it justice but the sky was dark and the rain was starting to fall. #bicycling
Cool to see this bicycle mobile voting station from China at the Carter Museum in Atlanta. #bicycling #Voting
They really are a lot of fun. Love smoking our turkey at Thanksgiving in our BGE.
Yep, they are still out there. Here's one in Virginia north of Richmond from 2023 when I rode from Richmond, VA to New Haven, CT on the East Coast Greenway.
Lovely bike ride this afternoon. One of those rare Spring days in New England where it's warm and sunny and perfect for a bike ride. #BikeTooter #bicycling #EastCoastGreenway #Cycling #bike #Surly
If you see this post, quote with a bridge from your gallery. #bikesky #EastCoastGreenway
A bridge on the Sunrise Trail in Maine from Summer 2024. Part of my ride from Calais, ME to Portland, ME on the East Coast Greenway.
9 years ago my father Larry Hubbard left us. A picture from near the end and one from my time in the Navy. Having a glass of Weller which he always said was "the good stuff" #CancerSucks
16 years of service. Power Outage killed it. New ONT installed. Internet is back. Watch out world.
Peanut oil acquired. I've been frying a turkey every Thanksgiving since 2000. This year I had to switch to 1-gallon containers because the price per oz was significantly cheaper than the 3-gallon container. Not sure why but I'm ready and that's one more item off the T-Day checklist.
My recent bike tour was a success. Over 1,000 miles and zero flats. Pittsburgh to DC via the GAP Trail and C&O Canal Towpath Trail, then from Richmond to New Haven, CT on the #EastCoastGreenway. #bicycling #biketouring
