I cannot bear the body the sight of it
‘s secrets laid bare. I’m not used to that kind of honesty.

The way my home ec teacher sighed—I couldn’t sew to save a life.

My favourite doctors are
House, Dr. Frankenstein, and Hannibal (Mads Mikkelsen rendition).

My father was saved by a doctor: if someone so learned in science
believes in God,
who am I to say
He doesn’t exist?

When I came out to my mother she said
Maybe you should see a doctor.

I don’t need to see
how the heart works. Just knowing it does is enough.

When I said I wanted to heal, I meant
me.
