main: @chibitech.bsky.social chibi-tech's hobby stuff goes here. the jack AND master of all trades, but sometimes i just gotta narrow it down to specifics. norcal azn chick turned akiba citizen🫶✨ j-fashion & jirai junkie👘💅 jdm culture & honda s660 nerd🏎️🏁
but what makes R152 interesting is it runs parallel w/a major tectonic line within the so-called “Japanese Alps”, making the soil absolutely dogshit for foundation use. combined with a wrinkled landscape unsuitable for typical human habitat leaves very few chances to detour from that lone bad road.
i dunno what compelled me to go thru an infamous 酷道 (poorly-maintained national road) like Japan National R152 w/a low-height sports car in the middle of the night w/no cellular service, but i attempted to do the entire ~4hr trek DEEP in the akaishi range. i tapped out onto a detour after 30 mins
the most apt song change for the moment i guess this is the true feeling of what all the stereotypical spicy old couples with S660s in rural mountain villages go thru, the car really is perfect for this
the aftermath of my negligence, and the recovery yeah disregard all my little rants here & there about the S660’s clutch pedal “inherently being heavy with no discernible bite point by feel”, it’s really supposed to feel light like every other new MT honda haha wow fml lol😞
another one manages to come into TX haha, this time a 6MT version... yeah i guess the port authority feds really are asleep at the wheel
update: it’s not the master/slave cylinder; looks like it’s moving in & out normally as i pump the clutch pedal. changing shifter to different gears still makes transmission actuation noises as usual. started engine after, clutch still can’t engage (read: propel car) regardless of pedal position. 😮💨
the s660 does have both full and half-top covers that does look like it engulfs every part that would otherwise have a vulnerable rubber gasket. i prolly should get a half-top one; my s660 is usually parked in a sheltered semi-open garage but it's usually out on the elements overnight on weekends.
eff beeotches get money🦩💸 (yeah i should post the rest of my pics from itasha tengoku ageo)
i accidentally let my car’s battery drain too much to use the starter. witness me repeatedly fail to complete a bump-start in either forward or reverse gear. at some points i almost screw up trying to even jump into the cabin all dukes of hazzard style🙃
huh. just learned now that an S660's stock turbo setup doesn't actually have a true 'vent-to-atmosphere' blow-off valve, but really is a recirculation kind like a civic. but since the nearby airbox has an open vent port, it makes the recirc whooshes easily noticeable as it's right behind the driver.
i’ve run over the marker many times during late night lane-restricted construction. came very close to resting my car’s tire on it on a stop at one point
rare moment the stop light at nihonbashi places me right next to kilometer zero
it's been brought to my attention that there's a red honda s660 mugen RA somehow successfully imported & roaming around texas. well i'll be damned. either they nailed it on declaring it as Show & Display, or the US government truly is asleep at the wheel with the port authority turning a blind eye.
not saying that would totally dissuade my poor financial decisions, it woulld be kinda fun to enter an AU shitbox in D1GP and make it go head-to-head against... saaaaaaay... japan's very own AU at home
yeah there's a bit more fuwamoco themed vehicles this time around. they're the only vtubers i truly know, so it's kinda cool seeeing more of their presence.
“hey look, Nissan Cima nuts” … “bro i’d bet you’d Daihatsu for this Canbussy” … “LOL!” “OMG!”
ngl this news came outta left field for me. though i guess it explains why I got to sit in an Integra Type S in Honda's Tokyo Aoyama building a few years ago
oh no😢 yeah i used to drive a ‘92 Si since the mid-90s for ~15 years until i moved to japan. gave it to dad afterwards and it deteriorated really fast after he accidentally smashed it onto the front of his house… after he passed away it sat outside & grew interior mold. eventually it got parted out🥲
