While Germans coped very well with their Nazi history, Russians did the opposite with Stalinism, WWII events etc. They simply do not know own history. Or rather they know fairy tales and many of them believes them.
Molotov's speech in October 1939. Soviet propaganda seriously claimed that it was anglo-franks who were warmongers and Hitler who wanted the peace. Russian playbook is the same as soviet playbook
Sergey Lavrov during UN General Assembly, New York, September 27, 2025: "We never attack civilian targets. Incidents may happen, but we never target them deliberately."
Did you know that it were Anglo-French aggressors who instigated the WWII fighting Nazis and who had no desire to stop it? October 1939, Defense Commissar Voroshilov
Interesting insight how did Soviets perceive WWII before the Barbarossa started. I am posting a screenshot from YouTube video, I failed to find full text of this order No. 191 from May 1st, 1941 online.
I am not sure this is fully correct. Occupation of Besarabia (cur. Moldova) got USSR too close to Ploiești oilfields (within a reach of bombers) and this made Hitler very nervous. This was not in line with 'spirit of Molotov-Ribentrop pact' ;)
Example of Russian cartoon. What fascinates me are the proportions of the bear and Ukraine (Zelensky). No sanity check. Target audience is obvious...
Russian census of 1897 provides some interesting insights. See nationality composition based on declared first language: Russian 52.4% Jewish 14.8% Polish 8.6% Ukrainian 7.4% Polish 8.6% Belarusian 1.0% How does this map based on the census compare to current (pre-2014) Ukraine territory?
Unknown history: Lokot autonomy/republic in occupied Russia (Oct 41-Aug 43): '... ruled by Russian civil administration ... to serve as a test case for a Russian collaborating government under the SS' With own forces up to 10.000 men '... completely massacred the Jewish population of the area.'
Ask Tucker Carlson, he was forced to listen to Putin's historical lesson. Look how happy he looked then
This is normal in Russia. Look at those guys, in what war(s) they have got all those medals?
Who will punish Russian war criminals? Russia is historically known to close their eyes on own war crimes. Quite famous quote from Stalin: "Can't you understand if a soldier who has crossed thousands of kilometres through blood and fire and death has fun with a woman or takes some trifle?
"they will no longer be able to recover from the damage inflicted." Do not underestimate Europeans. See how some of Germany's cities looked during WWII: (This is Dresden)
For me as an European it seems very strange that there is no 'normal' ID card in USA and quite a few other countries. This is how this small plastic card looks in Slovakia (official specimen):
MAGA a la Fico: Make Slovakia Small Again - this is very weird geopolitics by Fico. Supporting Putin and even Orban by country like Slovakia. We were under Hungarians and then under Russians. source: www.sme.sk/komentare/c/...
Just few weeks ago owning oil producers stocks seemed pointless and losing business. And suddenly... the worse the better - can be said in this case ;) source ishares.com - chart of iShares Oil & Gas Exploration & Production UCITS ETF
So many long wars had started as a short campaign. Or in other way - some military operations turn into long wars.
Russians are experts in bringing happiness to other people: "With an iron fist, we will drive humanity to happiness"
