Surprisingly interesting and thought provoking morning thinking about short, medium and long terms risks and risk management
Brilliant to hang out with my amazing daughter Iona where spent the afternoon chatting over coffee and then went to see this amazing film which I thought was amazingly produced. Anyone else seen it and what did you think?
Loved youth club tonight; crafts, games, table tennis, PlayStation but above all growth in relationships with young people. Carl Roger Talks about unconditional positive regard
Love accompanying the wonderful people of Worcester Community Trust and in particular their community building and youth teams. They are really modelling ABCD practice in wonderful ways. Joy to work alongside my good friend Carol as their independent evaluator
What a privilege to do a workshop with Birminghams Homelessness Forum on ‘The meaning of meaningful participation.’ A group of people dedicated to supporting some of the most vulnerable in the city and a joy to help them think about a more strength based community building approach
Joy to facilitate third workshop for @loconomybrum on our Hidden Voices/Voice Up project exploring a tech solution to people feeling hidden from traditional landlord engagement processes
Inaugural Andy Howell memorial lecture last night in city making with stories from around the world. Great to connect with bunch of people I know who make Birmingham a better place and a few new connections which I always love making. Went out for pizza with good friends Paul and Alan afterwards
Golf today was the story of a great outward nine - went out in 43 with a couple of pars and a birdie - hit a 6 iron onto the green and then holed a 45 foot putt. Back nine not so good although still managed couple of pars so ended up drawing with @simon.jay.9
Yesterday was the story of two cafes, one new connection and hatching a plot with another. Loved getting to meet Alan, share life and faith journeys and hear about Sacred Spaces. Some potential overlap with a missional/theological perspective on ABCD.
Had an appointment at the doctors and pleasantly surprised to find that one of our community newsletters had plainly been read in the waiting room
Love facilitating the @econjusticebrum network and big thanks to Conrad for his workshop today. We start the gatherings again in the autumn as we seek to build a community from a variety of contexts and perspectives for economic change so that it works for everyone and every postcode
First Panto read through! I’m giving nothing away other than I think it’s a cracking script.
It was a bit warm out there today so Coco found water whenever he could. Good to bump into my running friend Matt a couple of time on the way round and as we got tea/coffee and toasties
Junior Club yesterday evening - table tennis, FIFA tournament, bead mosaic fidget spinners and then sport session this morning in partnership with @warwickshirecricketfoundation who led the cricket session - was a bit warm to be running round playing football with group of young people!
Really enjoyable round of golf with @simon.jay.9 and I actually played ok. Round in 90 which still want to get lower but struck the ball much better today.
Great to facilitate resident steering group conversation scrutinising community regeneration development engagement plan with lots of good suggestions, challenge and support
What a joy to be present at the AGM and Awards evening celebrating all those people who make a contribution to the building of community life. Some very moving moments as people described the impact on their lives of being part of this extended family including Change Makers
A great time at One Church with one of our RLC Co-Directors who’s the pastor and our amazing Sally preaching using the Beautitudes to comfort and challenge us to live radically in ways that this church already exemplifies. Followed by a Co-Directors meeting at the pub! .
Having travelled down by train on Saturday good to start my Sunday with coffee and doing some work on Brighton beach!
Just want to give a birthday shout out to these two amazing people who give me the privilege of letting me collaborate with them over many years. Paul and Fred thanks for your friendship, skills and passion for a more just world.
Fun evening at Junior Club. Some outdoor games, then choice of art, table tennis or play station. Fun Fridays!
Played absolutely rubbish today including not being able to get out of bunkers for love or money! Still 3 pars including hitting this 5 iron to 10 feet.
What an absolute privilege to spend time with these amazing people Conrad, @patriciaannewhite1, Charlie as we collaborate together on @econjusticebrum. News about our next gathering and events coming up!
Hope happens here! Great meeting with funder exploring how together we can keep making hope happen with and by our neighbourhood! Followed by planning a workshop developing a bid in another neighbourhood. #ABCDinaction
Really good games of squash (managed to win 3-1!) with @craigbird77 followed by curry and catch up on life and faith
Love the vision of these people post ABCD course for connecting and involving the local community here, many of whom struggle with isolation. So enjoy these coaching sessions
Really good meeting around community regeneration program I am part of facilitating around resident involvement and steering
Now that I’m playing more regularly need to put a bit more effort into practicing so popped to the driving range
A brilliant start to the week doing some coaching and accompanying over coffee and earl grey tea. Thinking ignited into the beginnings of some ideas around ABCD and the arts. Love it!
