I tried my best to recreate Saville’s color code in Lego once for New Order’s Blue Monday single
DRACULA’S ANGEL looks like it takes place in the Metaverse: blank, featureless expanses of green punctuated by elaborate 3D assets, inhabited by dead-eyed creeps
“ahhh, I don’t get it, Pip! My work: Lego. My hobbies: Lego. Every mug I know has somethin’ to do with Lego! Are ya sure I wasn’t supposed to go to y’know some other place…?”
I make my Electronics and Advocate checks in #TravellerRPG with @eff.org 2D6’s 🎲🎲
“It’s North by Northwest with the guy from Moonlighting!” 35 years later, this ridiculous movie still makes me laugh 🎾
More Constructivism! Also a shout-out to Situationists at the punk exhibit at Skirball
It is fitting that this adjacent photo of Rob Liefeld does not include his feet
More disappointing AI slop from @skeptoid.bsky.social — before bed, remember to put on all your rings, both your wristwatches, and bracelet of melting blobs
A minor detail I love about character creation in Traveller is the ranks (levels) of the Entertainer career. Ranks 0-4? Utter obscurity. But Rank 5? “Famous Performer”. Both ‘anyone can call themselves an artist’ and overnight success that only took 12+ years in one table
Introducing a protoplasmic goo into my sci-fi game and picking a color the players wouldn’t riff on was the most fraught part of it: Brown, Yellow, White are out. Black (Prometheus rip-off). Orange? (Juice.) Pink? (Pepto Bismol.) So what did I go with?
After a scene of rapid-fire auctioneering, the man slowly telling an old German, “I’m sorry sir, I cannot understand you.” is a sublime gag
Either you have to use a paid tax filing service this year of fill out and mail your taxes by hand…
To clarify, “that scene from The Lego Movie” the author of Mayor of Noobtown is referencing is when Wildstyle looks around a Lego city alley and sees parts she can appropriate to make a getaway vehicle. This opaque reference is meant to describe the video game mechanic of crafting.
