Happy Fourth of July, Oregon! Today, we celebrate our freedoms and the people who make both America and Oregon so special. Loving your country means showing up for your community. It means protecting our freedoms, supporting our neighbors, and working to build a better future together.

Oregon’s police academy had a seven-month backlog, keeping trained recruits off the streets. I directed the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training to fix it, and they did by adding classes, expanding capacity, and eliminating the wait. As of 2024, the backlog was gone.
