This is my niece. Lismore. 2022. Locals had just smashed in the back door and rescued her from her highset home. She'd been standing on the kitchen bench on a chair, in broiling floodwaters up to her chest. #Climatechange is real, personal and catastrophic. So, #datacentres can fuck right off.

A bedraggled and exhausted young woman wearing a pumpkin head t-shirt is helped through brown floodwaters by two others. Directly behind her is a tinny (boat) and the locals who saved her.
She saved her two cats.
The house was not salvageable.

Am reading Make Believe by Mac Barnett. Con: it's condescending Pro: it's mercifully short. There's a story about the 3 aunts which made me laugh, but only because it reminded me of Magrat Garlick, Nanny Ogg and Granny Weatherwax, who'd wipe the floor with Barnett. Will read on though.

Taking good photos of sculpts is a challenge for me.

Sculpt of many legged figure walking with the assistance of a walking stick. She is robed in black and carries a basket of flowers on her back. Lots of greenery in the background - camelia bush and rosemary mostly.

Currently listening to Guy Standing's The Politics of Time: Gaining Control in the Age of Uncertainty. Interesting tidbit so far - The wording of the Lord's Prayer was originally 'forgive us our debts, as we also have also forgiven our debtors.'

When your excellent printer accidentally staples your gated centrefold of wombat taxidermy incorrectly. It's back with them being fixed. Sometimes even the best folk make mistakes.

That time this magnificent wee beastie landed on my car aerial.

A dragonfly perched perfectly centre on a car aerial. In the background is a purple weatherboard house. The dragonfly's wings seem wonderfully aligned with the old garage doors, the windows above (also reflected on the car roof) and two outside lights placed on either side of the garage doors.

On the desk. Testing her very unfinished legs. #sculpt

Sculpt in black and pink-brown apoxie sculpt (air dry) clay. The figure has many legs, a wizened face and a dress and head-dress of sculpted forest detritus. The bag she carries on her back is filled with rust-orange flowers and foilage.
