Once again I am in love with this project so much I'll likely work on it until dawn. At least tonight I've decided to lean into it and made coffee. Look at this Venus flytrap looking thing, like some kind of pulp comic monster. How can you not love that?

Morty again. Mock tomato frog's colors change as they age. The first pic is they day I got her, Dec 2021, maybe six months old. The second is in May 2022, close to a year old. The third is in September 2023, so 2 years old. The last one is today, 5 and excited because it's snack time. #frog #pets

Her back is an even orange color, a soft gradient that is more yellow orange on the sides, more brown on the back. Her sides are a sable brown, her gold eyes lost in the shadows. She sits in a blue bowl.

The brown on her sides has faded to a soft brown stripe along her back, edged in a golden orange yellow. A brown spot edged in the golden yellow sits under her eye. Her gold eyes pop, and the orange has spread to her face and legs. It is starting to show faint traces of mottling with a red orange color.

Now mottled with the red orange like an autumn leaf, she sits like a golden eyed supermodel by her little pool and lots of lovely moss.

Crazy old lady pops out of her moss cave yelling, "It is Muerte! Don't you forget it!"

I see three varieties of the kind of lichen that looks like little cups or buttons.

Big yellow cups on the inside, green on the outside next to silvery green with brown on the inside of the cups.

We got a whole white/black/orange color scheme going on here that is just lovely.

Big cups on stalks, but kind of withered and wrinkly so it looks a bit like a Venus flytrap. I think this is the one I'll draw.

I finally drew Morty the mock tomato frog. She always seemed like too much of a challenge, but now she seems like good practice. I have so many projects I'm working on, but I kind of want to draw her again, and maybe write a poem. #art #humanMadeArt #sciArt #frogs

A vivid orange frog mottled with reddish orange flecks, like an autumn leaf, peers at you with sparkly gold peepers, sitting in the entrance of her dyed green mossy cave. She is a mock tomato frog. Tomato frogs are more solid red, I think she's prettier :) She's six years old.

Her cave next to the pool. I've cleaned the glass with vinegar, so she retreated further into hiding. Hoping to get pics through the clean glass tonight. Reflection of a vine is my nearby vanilla.

Worked on a pic using the #TrueRef model Neri while watching Tales From The Crypt with my twin neighbors who just celebrated their 65th birthday by getting matching nose piercings. One said, "That looks like (her identical twin)" without a trace of irony in her voice, so now she has bling.

One of my favorite stones. The circle in the center is only 2 or 3 mm across, reminds me of a goddess statue with her arms above her head.

Damp red sandstone mottled with black, sprinkled with young feathery candleflame lichens.

A bit of rotting lumber with what I think is staghorn's fungus rising up like skeletal fingers.

iNaturalist tells me this is Xylodon flaviporus growing on my porch, but all I can see is what looks like a little bleached corral reef covered in algae.

I like to take regular photos of the golden fan shaped jelly fungus growing in the cracks of the green paint on my old bench. I only get to see it after a few days of rain, it always looks so pretty.

I'm not much of a flower gardener, but last year I got a mix of free seeds that I scattered, just to see what comes up, especially since identifying things is fun. I've never heard of this flower before, looks cool. "Love-in-a-Mist", or Nigella. Cool seed pods. #gardening #bloomscrolling

Leaves remind me of dill, very fine and thread like. Green seed pod is swollen like a balloon.
