Doug Ford is making speeches in Toronto about how much his government is doing to help northwestern ON with the wildfires. The ON website provided updated info about the northeast at 7:30 this morning, and again at 8:00 p.m. In the meantime, no update about the northwest since 6:47 p.m. yesterday.

This seems to be the day for beautiful books that inspire us. I got this one this afternoon:

Nice! This is my backyard right now:

Winters are so-o-o long here. It's FINALLY above freezing in the daytime. We've actually had some rain and a few warm, sunny days, so we've lost a lot of snow this week. Even so, the cross country ski trails are still open. This was my back yard this afternoon.

I love this! (I'm a retired primary teacher.) Sydney might like to know that because our surname is Hamilton, we named this little girl Eliza. I call her Eliza Soo, in honour of Philippa Soo, who played Eliza on Broadway. I sometimes sing "Helpless" to her, changing the "boy" lyric to "girl".

In honour of #ShowMeYourKnits #FloofWeek, I'm finally going to finish the second sleeve of my Dacite cardigan, knitted in moss green Drops Brushed Alpaca Silk. This beautiful, unbelievably soft, warm and floofy yarn is one of my all-time favourites!

#ShowMeYourKnits this week is autumn knits. I'm 2/3 of the way through the cabled yoke of the Eirwen cardigan, by Susanna IC, knit in Drops Nepal. (The pattern was published in @knitty.com. It isn't a fast knit, but it is very much fun! It will be a cozy, autumn sweater when it's done.

The round yoke of an intricately cabled cardigan lies on a tan-coloured fleece blanket. The work in progress is sapphire blue. The temporary cast-on was done with white yarn which will not be part of the finished cardigan. There are 16 cabled sections of the yoke -- each marked with a colourful stitch marker.

#ShowMeYourKnits is baby week. I made this dinosaur sweater for my grand nephew's first birthday. (His birthday is in June, so I made the sweater to fit him the following autumn and winter.) I could have also posted this last week, as the purple, green and scarlet yarns were left-overs from my shawl

Could you do the collar and sleeves in a different colour, like a baseball shirt? If you don't have enough of your original colour left to finish the body, could you finish the body in stripes, using the original colour and the new colour?

It's going to be gorgeous. (It's already gorgeous!) I'm also knitting an eyelet baby blanket, but this pattern is super easy. Except when I'm in imminent danger of vomiting, I can work on this blanket even when I'm too sick or tired to do anything else.

The #ShowMeYourKnits prompt this week is cardigans. I have these two on my needles right now. The olive green is for me. The gauge swatch is for a soon-to-be-born baby girl. The swatch is a mess because I tried several techniques for flat stranded knitting before I hit on the one that works for me.
