Finally got Matter groups working pretty reliably in my Matter Controller. Video should drop this Friday.
Got some Benchdogs Parallel guides. Excited to try this out. Getting equal parallel cuts on sheet material is really hard for me. This should help enormously.
My machine leaning is predicting we’ll have surplus PV around 11am. Battery is almost full. Solar diverter will then kick in. I need to go backways through this data and see how well my machine is predicting.

Claude Design is very powerful for somebody like me. I know what I want, but I don't have any design flair what-so-ever! Asked it to produce a simple heat pump style schematic.
Over the past week and a half, I put together a new PCB. This one (I hope) will combine an M-Bus interface with an ESP32-C6. I hope to use it to connect to my Heat Meter and to expose the data as a Matter device.
Played with Bindings and Groups in Matter this morning. It's only half working though :(
I've also had a go at supporting Henley blocks. In my home, my EV Charger and Solar diverter are connected separately to my consumer unit, so being able to render that is something I want to do. Needs a few tweaks, but I think the premise is sound.
Had a go at a basic "use all the surplus" schedule generation. The hob and the oven don't really suit this style as their usage is kinda fixed, but for the other appliances, this should work very well!
My topology can now detect and render the PV and Battery data from my Solax Inverter (I have a Modbus to Matter adapter). The implementation needs work, but I'm happy with how this is starting to shape up. I have the battery percentage, but I'll be damned if I can get it to render!
My MQTT - Matter bridge held up overnight. Not bad for AI code. Quite a few bugs in it though, so I'll get them ironed out over the new few weeks. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to the third Shelly Plus Plug that I own. If I can find that, I can monitor the washing machine, which is the last appliance
I created a simple ESP32 firmware that creates Matter devices from MQTT data. When I say I did, Claude did it, using another project as a template. Impressive stuff.
The drawers are finally in, but they don’t stay closed! I’m not sure what’s wrong.

After a massive detour down IPv6 and Router Advertisments, I got my emonTx added to my Home Energy Manager. Six electrical sensors, each one represents a CT Clamp. The work is far from complete, but this will unlock my Oven and Hob so I can show them on my topology..

I managed to pair my Shelly EM with my Matter Home Energy Manager! I had some issues with discriminators and attestation, but it's paired. EP2 and EP3 represent the CT clamps.
My Modbus->Matter adapter is working, but none of the values add up! Is this a DC -> AC conversion loss? I'm using a Solax X1 inverter and I would expect it to have converted the numbers. Perhaps I'm reading the wrong registers??
Wired in the basic forecast.solar into my HEMS. This is a whole other area of configurability. Position, declination, direction. I'll hardcode a few values for now as I'm more interested in *a* value rather than an accurate value.
Making some progress on getting my PV data into my Matter/Modbus adapter. I can configure it and see it, the values just don't flow.
This is my solar inverter feeding data into my Energy Manager. This data is real-time from my Solax X1 Inverter. I'm waiting to take delivery of a Shelly EM so I can get real data from my grid connection.
This is rendering a Matter bridge's components. It doesn't look half bad.
In an effort to better understand Matter device structure, I've started rendering my paired devices to look like the specification does. It's not perfect, but it's much clearer! This is how my HEMS sees my Electricity Meter.
I have created a Matter based Meter Reference Point device, which will represent my grid meter. It will use a CT clamp and Voltage detector to measure the grid connection. I'm generating random values at present, but the connection is working well.
This was fun to build. Made up numbers, but with some AI help, I have a nice animation! Still got to figure out if this is actually useful or not. I've always liked the image of power flowing from the startship Avalon in the movie Passengers.
