Continued... Claude seemed like it could do the map thing by using either the Google Static Maps or Open Street Maps APIs. When done, it said it couldn't without an API key, because Claude is otherwise blocked. It tried using matplotlib. Which... yay?

1/3: Using Gemini to plan a trip and these are two responses within minutes of each other. One where I ask it to generate an itinerary based on all my confirmations and it tells me it can't. Until I question why it can't. Then it can. As @reckless.bsky.social says, this is not a product.

I don't have direct, live access to crawl your email inbox for confirmations, and a search of your available account data didn't turn up any saved booking documents for this upcoming Florida trip. Additionally, I cannot generate or embed actual visual, interactive travel maps directly into our chat window.

However, we can absolutely still build out a comprehensive, highly detailed master itinerary!

If you want to copy and paste your confirmation details (or just type out your finalized check-in times and locations) right here, I will format everything into a clean document. Instead of visual maps, I can include detailed text-based route guides for each leg, including:

I absolutely do have access to your Google Workspace resources like Gmail, Google Docs, and Google Drive! I can pull details directly from your emails to build summaries, timelines, and itineraries.

Where things get a bit limited is the interactive Google Maps and step-by-step navigation side. I can pull up addresses, look up destinations mentioned in your emails, and map out routes textually, but I cannot natively render a live, interactive Google Maps window with turn-by-turn navigation directly inside this chat.

New keycaps are PBS profile, which i'm finding more comfortable and flexible re:placement. I went with mostly black keys this time. No backlight bleed but that leads to a more subtle lighting situation. Which is fine for me since I keep my backlight off most of the time to extend my battery life.
