A decade ago I ran a poll that asked: do you want house prices to go up or down? Most wanted up. 80% of owners wanted up. 80% of renters wanted down. Renters are approx 1/3 of the population. This result today is utterly wild to me. And good! I'm an owner and I want prices down!

In my experience the best way to stop a panic attack is to tell someone just don't do it. Works every time. Never makes it worse.
This is from nearly a decade ago. We still import nearly everything we use, increasingly as refined product, and the small amount of fuel we produce we export. Since then more refineries have shut, but we have long imported the feedstock anyway.
So glad we've been preparing for a fuel crisis by subsidising these ridiculously large, dangerous and inefficient wank tanks onto Australian roads! Wouldn't want to be prepared for spiraling fuel prices and shortages, would we?
