Taken from the front of our house on the top floor at about 5am today. Not as amazing or rare as the total solar eclipse we saw in Spain but beautiful nonetheless. Picture taken with Pixel 8 Pro.
Very pleased to see this faded away painting fixed on Cowley Road by Marsh Road following my @fixmystreet.bsky.social report on 9th July. It was very dangerous. Thanks to @nakedfingers.bsky.social for the photo.
Oh @bbcoxford.bsky.social I expect this sort of ignorant slop from @theoxfordmail.bsky.social but not from you. That's the Radcliffe Camera, not the Radcliffe Observatory, where the meteorological station is!
Clickbait rubbish from @theoxfordmail.bsky.social. The article talks about the conditions required for a lifting of the ban. It DOES NOT give a date.
It's heartbreaking to see how much of this very beautiful part of France has been consumed by fire. Compare it to the size of greater Bordeaux. In other years we would have been on holiday there by now. Climate change is real, folks! Action is needed urgently. Europe is burning.
Really notable that the minister who signed off this huge gerrymander - by Labour and FOR Labour - cutting bits that don't vote red, has been sacked. Is YOUR town or village in this mess? I hope you'll be able to sign the petition to ask the government to look at this again. www.oxonld.uk/lgr
Have a look at this oxfordclarion.uk/political-pe... And this from the previous landlady of the Butchers Arms in Headington.
Nigel Farage talking about broken Britain is like Fred West complaining that his patio is uneven.
If that hadn't happened for 5-10 years I might very slightly believe some of the claims of the climate change deniers, but this is the third time in three weeks. We are in trouble.
Driving down the M74, A74, M6, M42, M40; hanging around at airports for ages (and still having to get home from Birmingham or London afterwards); or these views from the comfortable air-conditioned Avanti West Coast train? No competition!
I made some hot and sour soup for lunch. Mostly this recipe www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/hot-... but I didn't have any Char Siu pork so I just used more tofu. I also made it all in the pressure cooker and brought it up to pressure for about a minute to make sure the flavours were well combined.
I thought my neighbourhood might like to know about @oxfordclarion.bsky.social
Urgh. This makes me want to leave Nectar completely. There is nothing whatsoever that's ethical about destroying local taxi businesses or bleeding restaurants dry and making roads extremely dangerous with speeding illegal electric motorbike conversions. Poor choice @sainsburys.bsky.social.
This makes me sick to my stomach. The hateful mis-gendering quote from the Directory of Advocacy at "Sex Matters" is absolutely disgusting. It's the sort of thing that causes death by suicide of vulnerable young people. If that's what an Advocacy Director is for then I'm the Queen of Sheba.
Fantastic venue for a concert with choir and saxophone. Looking forward to being part of it later. www.oxfordchoir.org/event-detail... it's not to late to come and hear us.
Because @oxfordcitycouncil.bsky.social it's about the only official hardcopy printed form of proof of address I have now. Utility bills and so on are all online PDFs.
Ridgefield Road by Leys Place in East Oxford. Terrifying on a bike and probably fatal on a scooter.
As Valentine’s Day approaches, please be alert to the emotional and psychological manipulation used by criminals committing romance fraud. There's a great booklet about this available at s-url.co/glkrAA
Looking a bit closer into this today I reckon there's a leak in the 12" water main just by the lap post (27) there's ground being washed up, I think.
Hello @annarailton.bsky.social I don't know if you're aware but there is a problem with a key City Cycle route past Cowley Marsh Park. The ditch is blocked so Barracks Lane is flooded making cycling messy and dangerous. Can you help? Lots of reports already e.g. www.fixmystreet.com/report/8733414
Rymer's Lane showing gas works, heading South this morning by Flo's. I thought @oxfordshirecc.bsky.social had a policy against Cyclists Dismount signs? Particularly pointless ones like this? There was plenty of room both for cyclists and pedestrians.
Anyone up for Beer and Carols at the Marsh Harrier in Cowley on Saturday at 6pm? Would be fun to see you there.
I wonder why @oxfordcitycouncil.bsky.social bin emptiers have turned my driveway (just the bit to the right of the line down the middle) into an LTN and removed the actual street LTN bollard. Not helpful when visitors in a car are about to arrive.
One for your diary. A very good cause. oxfordshirehomelessmovement.org/article/ohm-...
Why are these here on Little Clarendon Street @oxfordshirecc.bsky.social ? I thought you had a policy that proscribed these signs?
Fancy a job in Cyber in @ox.ac.uk? We are looking for an incident response lead and the deadline is only three days away. £48,235 - £57,255 with a discretionary range up to £62,407 per annum. Hybrid working possible with min 2-3 days per week onsite. my.corehr.com/pls/uoxrecru...
How it was and how it should be. Tying the red emergency cord up like this can be life-threatening for a mobility impaired person who has fallen and cannot get up from the floor. Don't do it!
