HAPPY #JUNICORN !! 🦄✨ This baby uni was a gift for my sister; we grew up playing neopets together so I drew her favourite for her birthday ♥

$Sketch of Omen as a deep sea merfolk, their long body and tail curling below them as they ascend from the inky blackness of the background. My hand holding up my pocket journal, which is used for a blend of art/junk journaling, life tracking, and memory keeping. The cover is black with a red mushroom pattern and I've put a couple of recycled red labels (one for high alert meds and one that says HEAVY) over it. Handmade tabs peek out from the top and sides.

Showing the open end of the journal, where maybe a third is still untouched and the rest is filled with stuff, making it bulge beyond its original size.

A great beast lurks in the lightless depths of the sea. Here it is met by a comparatively miniscule submarine which catches part of creature's coiling form. Emerging from the darkness above that is the beast's head; its blank eyes glow teal. Its mouth has opened just enough to reveal rows of needle-like teeth. Dreki belongs to @drekiormur.bsky.social

A gargantuan dragon emerges from a volcano, surrounded by smoke and fiery embers. On its neck is a molten gular pouch filled with magma. The dragon glows from within, heat and light pouring from its maw and nostrils and heat pits. It stretches its neck high above a plateau at the volcano's mouth, where a tiny humanoid kneels in reverence, almost imperceptible in comparison. The sky is dark and filled with smoke. On either side of the dragon's neck, it raises the clawed tips of its wings as it preparing to climb out.

She is nude with one hand on a trident and the other on her swollen stomach, inside which are six glowing orbs. Bioluminescent scales grow on her shoulders, face, and chest. She floats in the darkness of the deep ocean, her hair flowing behind her like a tangled mass of kelp.

Redraw of the previous illustration, showing improvement in lighting and rendering but still appearing quite flat against the background. Lines are still quite heavy, incongruent with the airbrushed colouring. The mermaid's design is mostly unchanged, even the pose is similar. Her hands are now clawed, her fin-like ears replaced with more elven style ears bearing jewelry. Bioluminescent dots now decorate most of her body and tail.

An explorative lighting test done after the previous version. I've drawn essentially the same pose again, but here I am beginning to understand how shadows curve around forms. This remained an unfinished sketch, a warm-up to the iteration that follows.

The last and most recent version of the illustration. The corrupted mermaid is now facing the viewer, rather than looking off to the side. She bares her teeth, some of which are needle-like, and stares ahead with hollow pits for eyes. Her stomach is more dramatically swollen, the lights within casting a glow through her hand, which rests against it. She is surrounded by blurred bubbles, as though caught in a snapshot of quick movement, her trident held out defensively in front of her. Black veins creep up her arms, stomach, and breasts. The Deepmother, in her wretched glory, prepares to defend her brood.

A pair of adoptables sharing the same base, each with a different design. All have antlers, tiger heads and bodies, blank glowing eyes, and snakes for tails. Lunar Body has a coat that reflects the night sky; a deep, dark indigo littered with stars. Wispy white stripes mark its back and thighs. Down the center of its face are large moon phase markings. The antlers have three tines each; a white mote hovers in one crown on either side. Its tail is a red cobra with the same blank white eyes as the tiger.
