Makes little sense out of context but this moment in Dogsred hits pretty hard. I think satoru noda might be a bit insane but in a way that makes for some great art
Particularly noticed this on Macbeth when you're destroying the train carriages, they got rid of the flashing altogether so I genuinely thought you couldn't destroy them at first in the remake. Having a visual signifier that you're doing damage is SO important in shmups!!
The little boss weak points that were often just pure yellow squares in the original (& read clearly amongst the chaos) are now little greebly things that often get lost and don't show much indication that you're hitting them or missing them.
i thought this when i was rereading hunter x hunter recently - some of the "unfinished" sketchy pages (some of which he later went back and cleaned up for the tankobon) have so much charm and energy. really really inspired me to chill out more with cleaning up everything
might sound weird but i genuinely credit the terminals original game with my interest in writing. the way they play with the format, more poetic stuff up against more hard sci-fi. was definitely thinking of it on some level when writing bits of Cuckoo (spoilers)
i have a lot of instinctive hate in my heart for this kind of nostalgic key jangling but when Durandal started talking to me in new Marathon i did feel very nostalgic and happy
another tarantino note is maybe that it feels like a snowy western movie which immediately makes me think of Hateful Eight
Golden Kamuy is so good!!!!! each story feels like a perfect little tarantino-ish vignette that i'm intrigued to watch play out. similarly comfortable with goofy humour existing side by side with sudden, harrowing violence too
