Roaming the trails of Kitsap County, Washington. Interested in land and wildlife conservation.
Participating in the @washingtontrails.bsky.social Hike-a-Thon again this year. My goal is 100 miles of trails runs or hikes this month. 16 miles down so far on Kitsap trails.

The beaver dam at Hawk's Hole Creek, at the the Hansville Greenway in Kitsap County, Washington. #forestfriday
I assisted with data collection on assisted migration of seedling trees this week. This is part of my volunteer work in land conservation. Some of the trees were locally sourced, and others from further south to see if they weather climate change better. We'll monitor their growth over the years.
Wildflowers growing in a logging road running through a clearcut forest. Jefferson County, Washington State, yesterday. #forestfriday
Dumpling finds himself so irresistibly handsome that sometimes he kisses his reflection. Two months ago he was living in a feral cat colony after being dumped there, now he's prancing around our house like a rock star
I call this little possum Edith. She's diligent about cleaning her paws after dinner. I like having possums around, and used to feed Edith's mama.
My mother-in-law is an inspiration to me. A former sword fighter among so many other things.🩷
Then we decided to keep this big sweet boy. He let my husband shave his mats off yesterday as shown in the video, and gets on well with our other two cats. Just an incredibly kind and mannerly cat. I don't know exactly what went wrong in his life, but he must have been treated well at some point.
Meet Dumpling. We sometimes house and care for feral cats while they recover from vet visits as part of TNR. This big guy came through a couple weeks ago and we learned from the colony caretaker that he was abandoned there by a neighbor. We offered to foster him as he clearly isn't feral.. #caturday
A seven mile hike today in Kitsap County, Washington. These pictures were taken at a beaver pond that is part of the 3500 acre Port Gamble Forest Heritage Park. I'm lucky to live here. #forestfriday
Our resident male black bear made his first appearance of the year yesterday, after denning over the winter.
From an excursion to Port Townsend yesterday. One of my favorite little cities.
