ON/QU: Local rainfall amounts possibly exceeding 50 mm beginning overnight Saturday to Sunday evening along the Ontario Highway 17/417 between North Bay and Montreal and the Highway 401 Corridor from Windsor to Montreal. Areas in yellow to the north may get rainfall of 50 to 80 mm.

BC: We are watching the Dewdney Creek Fire near Coquihalla #5 north of Hope, that is currently out of control and has grown to 43 Hectares. Not a threat to highwsy at this time.

BC: Wildfire has closed Crowsnest Highway #3 through Manning Park. Detour via Coquihalla #5. Highway 1 is also closed between Hells Gate and Boston Bar.

ON: Evacuations have been ordered near the Fort Frances 14 Fire as the 55,106-hectare wildfire is uncontrolled and poses a threat to Lac des Mille Lacs and Upsala areas, Trans-Canada Highway 17, and King's Highway 11. The southern edge is about 6 km from Highway 11. (photo not this fire)

Wednesday July 8 noon - Brunswick Creek Fire is now 2620 hectares and out of control and the Ainslie Creek (on the east side of the Fraser River, near Boothroyd) is 8,850 hectares and also out of control. Highway #1 remains closed Boston Bar to Boothroyd. Detour: take #5 Coquihalla.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith and Ontario Premier Doug Ford unveiled a proposed 3,300 km pipeline to transport oil from Western Canada to refineries in southern Ontario which would an estimated 500,000 barrels per day of oil. The proposed route starts at Hardisty, AB and ends in Sarnia, OON.

MB/ON: A low pressure system is moving across southern Manitoba late this afternoon / early this evening. Severe thunderstorms (50-100 mm) and hail (to golf ball size) accompanied by strong winds (90-110 km/h), NORTH of the Trans-Canada (#1/#17). ALONG OR SOUTH of the Trans-Canada may see Tornados

QU/NB: This afternoon and evening severe thunderstorms along the Trans-Canada Highway AutoRoute #20, AutoRoute #40, and Highway 2 with strong wind gusts, lightening, large hail, and heavy rain (30 to 50 mm per hour). Driving conditions may be difficult.

Heavy rain (70 to 90 mm. along Yellowhead Highway #16 and 4-70 mm along TransCanada Highway #1 across central and southern Alberta. Heavy rain will fall today and tonight, with the heaviest rain expected during the day today, and will taper off by Tuesday morning.

The proposed 800 km Mackenzie Highway, an all-season gravel highway from Wrigley to the Dempster Highway south of Inuvik, passing near Tulita, Norman Wells and Fort Good Hope. This road creates a direct route Yellowknife to Inuvik, cutting distance by 1,200 km and travel time from 38 hrs to 23 hrs.

BC: Three other Vancouver beaches are being closely monitored, although swimming is not currently restricted: Jericho Beach, Locarno Beach, and Wreck Beach (Trail 6).

BC: Several Vancouver beaches—including English Bay, Sunset Beach, Kits Point (Hadden Beach), Third Beach (Stanley Park), and Trout Lake—have active "no swimming" advisories due to elevated E. coli levels exceeding safe water quality guidelines.

AB: Heavy rain (70 to 100 mm) and thunderstorms are expected this weekend, along Yellowhead Highway #16 from Jasper to Edmonton area. Rain will begin early Saturday morning and taper off Sunday night.

BC: Trans-Canada #1 Closure 25 km south of Jackass Mountain Summit to 9 km south of Cache Creek due to 1000 hectare forest fire. Use Highway 5 and Highway 97C as alternative routes.

BC: Crowsnest Highway #3 paving from June 15 - August 15, from Kikomun Rd to the railway overpass in Elko and from Fernie Ski Hill Rd to the Elk River Bridge. Work will be 7 am to 7 pm, Monday to Saturday with single-lane alternating traffic (excepting long weekends).
