Trans Unity Quilt Project
@transunityquilt
A giant patchwork quilt made by and for trans people across the UK. A tangible symbol of our strength, our diversity and our unbreakable solidarity.
Done! We're done! Our final tally: 288 patches, for a quilt 96 meters long! Off to the fabricators on May 19th - greeting the world marching through the capital on July 25th at London Trans+ Pride. Bloody hell - thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts.
The perfect Leslie Feinberg quote for a memorial patch...
A LONG day of steaming, photography and cataloguing - but we're halfway there! It's staggering to see this all come together, even before the patches are sewn together into a quilt - the of courage, love, and beauty in these squares is a privilege to experience. Thank you! More tomorrow
And Love and Rage from London Trans+ Pride this Monday night. Hard at work prepping for our archiving processes in the next few weeks (photography! Descriptions! Cataloguing!) - but Love and Rage is definitely the vibe. And a hell of a lot of pride and joy in our community.
A trans spider from Birmingham: 'Your Phobias are Irrational'...
The initial sketch for a gloriously proud demon from Bristol...
Some gorgeous behind the scenes work from our April workshops - it's been a busy (and beautiful) month! An icon in the making from Liverpool...(collecting the finished piece tomorrow)
So excited to announce we've got the funds to release a final drop of patches! The absolute final return date is May 6th, so this is our challenge: decorate your patch in one week! We're ready to send them out: just comment below or email transunityquilt@goodlawproject.org and we'll get you one!
Free patch decorating workshop THIS WEDNESDAY in Manchester - trans people and friends, help us spread the word and join us if you can! We'll provide all the materials in a chill, wheelchair-accessible space - all you need to bring is yourself. Reserve a space here: www.outsavvy.com/event/34591/...
"Mushrooms find a way to grow even in the most adverse environments. Just like trans folks, they have and will always be here. The mycelium network is like the community - supporting each other even in ways that can't be seen." Thank you, Devarim - and thank you all
Thank you to everyone who came to our workshop in London today - it was such a beautiful moment to catch our breath together with laughter and warmth and creativity. May we all be fungi under the broader trans mushroom umbrella...
Save the date and the spread the word: London Trans+ Pride is taking over the capital on Saturday July 25th, and we'll be marching our quilt through the streets together! We'll need people to join us - interested? Please get in touch - transunityquilt@goodlawproject.org We can't wait 🏳️⚧️
Half a day, and we've already sold out? Thank you all so much! Please keep an eye on this account and @goodlawproject.bsky.social - we'll be sharing further details about in-person decorating workshops and the march this summer, and the more support we get, the greater the chance we can expand!
