We have a bunch in/near the Arnold/Tryon creek watersheds - east of I-5 in SW Portland. Gorgeous creatures & help the raptors keep the rodent population down.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of seeing lots of musicians & attending many performances. Few come close to “An Evening with Yo Yo Ma.” We left speechless & remained that way for nearly an hour.
Damn. Just learned another man done a full go around. Roy Bookbinder has passed. He was a musical hero of mine & just a plain wonderful & unique soul. He studied, traveled with & was largely influenced in life by the Rev. Gary Davis, another hero. I always looked forward to seeing Roy. RIP.
So, I’ve seen Vivaldi’s 4 Seasons performed over the course of 60+ years at probably a dozen or more symphonies & this was a unique & wonderful performance tonite by the Oregon Symphony featuring Avi Avital on mandolin (doing the trad violin leads). An amazing evening. A challenging program. Thx!

Mourning the death today of Sly Stone. As a teenager & watching his band start & develop, he & his brother’s shows were always a delight & full of positive energy. One of the amazing horn funk bands in the Bay Area back in the day.

Barred owls chased away/killed the other owl species we used to have. Since arriving, we have virtually no rodent problem & the invasive squirrels have given way to a healthy native, Douglas squirrel population once again. Spotted owls’ restricted diet & habitat requirements R the real issues here
Haven’t seen the master, Itzhak Perlman, play for nearly 40 years. His show w Rohan de Silva w whom he’s played for 25 years was insanely wonderful - especially the multiple encores. Bought tics for 7 more Oregon Symphony-sponsored shows this season.
