A seeding apple from Stanstead-Est, Québec, Canada. Submitted by Shaun Pett and Leila Ashtari of Pomme Fauve. The multi-trunked mother tree was found growing in a former cow pasture. It is noted as a prolific bearer, and is the oldest of over 50 apple trees in the field. Fruit size small to medium, 2" - 3" average. Roundish, lumpy form, stands somewhat oblique, or lopsided. Lightly ribbed, irregular plan view. Skin smooth, dry, uniform chartreuse ground coat. Cavity obtuse, moderate to shallow depth. Basin abrupt, small, and shallow with an intensely furrowed rim. Stem medium length, exserted, thick, inclined, flared at tip. Lenticels prominent, large, round, dark brown russet. Calyx closed, sepals erect convergent with some wrinkling around eye. Flesh firm, coarse grain, juicy, and tender. Flavor bittersharp. Citrusy front is full of succulent rounded acidity, reminiscent of strong lemon water. Mid-palate and finish have a strong body, velvety tannin and balanced astringency. Ripens late September in its state of origin and can be picked over a long season. Stores well. A cider apple of very good quality.
