I had the perfect capper to hearing these chilling tales by attempting to purchase ice cream at my local Royal Farms past 11. Lysergic plastic wrapped carnival managed by Wes Craven. I left without the ice cream or plantain chips.

Oddly, despite their not having read or heard each other’s work before tonight, their story choices & placement seemed planned out, the wet shadows & ritualistic soup meat stomping blending seamlessly together.

“Panique” is a perfect film. Based on a Simenon book with the often seen theme used by Highsmith of people piling up on an innocent person who happens to be creepy or just solitary. Amazing cinematography. With carnival scenes that rival those of “Strangers on a Train”.

Going to an O’s game in a couple weeks, hope they still have the Jell-O clown vendors.

An eventful day ended with a visit from Baltimore musician & cartoonist Chris who was in many bands in the ‘70s & ‘80s, primarily Chrystal. I hadn’t seen him in years & due to the state of things, lingering COVID, our advanced ages, I feared he may have gone on to seek Stan Lee’s autograph & wear

They’d just spent weeks driving through scenic Arizona, San Francisco & Utah. Little do they know I have bought a ticket in their row for their flight home! I will be the aged crotchety relative they never dreamed of or wished for. I do dishes & just need a decent sized couch….
