Kept tabs on this indie game for a while, but lost track of its release date. Pleasantly surprised to see it came out recently! Skilled dev of a couple *great* Rayman fangames recently finished work on an original 2D Rayman-like: Connie and the Essence of Chaos! Rather cute & enjoyable so far!
Got in the mood recently for some Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped. Crash 2 is one of my all-time faves, but I honestly can't remember if I ever finished this one, even a casual run (how I prefer to play Crash). So I felt it was about time to compare the two a little more in depth. And so far, so good!
Been reading "Console Wars" lately -- a pretty good book on the Sega/Nintendo rivalry of the 80s & 90s -- and that got me in the mood to do a run of Sonic 2, because why not? I'll go on record with my hot take of preferring 3D Sonic to 2D, but this is still a classic for a reason. A fun revisit.
Recently started the newly released cinematic platformer Lifted. I've heard it's the brainchild of a former Disney ride engineer & I totally believe it. So far it's rather breezy, very charming & visually appealing. One of those games you play for the fun story rather than a ruthless challenge.
An aquarium maybe an hour-ish away from me was doing an Animal Crossing tie-in stamp rally event. Fun, cute idea, neat reason to check the place out & it was topped off with an Isabelle meet 'n greet!
Looking for some good news in the world of video games? Happy to say @gamesdonequick.com is back for more of that 24/7 heartwarming speedrun goodness raising money for Doctors Without Borders (@msf.ca). Huzzah for the beginning of one of my favorite weeks of the year! #SGDQ2026
Feel like I gotta go with Escape from Ever After as of now. Kept tabs on its development for quite some time & when it was ready to release, it didn't disappoint. Indie Paper Mario-like at its finest.
Spent the last hour or so trying out some Scott Pilgrim EX. So far it's done a pretty good job making me a bit wistful for 2010 & my high school days, back when the first Scott Pilgrim beat-em-up came out. I love that Anamanaguchi returned to do the soundtrack too.
Decided what the next game on the docket is gonna be. A Bubsy game that plenty of folks are saying is actually pretty good? Oh yeah, this I *gotta* see.
I don't usually post stuff like this on here, but part of me figures why not atm. It was a fantastic day for a walk in one of my local parks. And with the nice weather & all this weight I've lost since October, I felt a bit of self-confidence return to me. Life's been wild, but I'm tryin' my best.
My early impressions of Yoshi & the Mysterious Book are pretty good. Gameplay loop is definitely different than standard 2D platforming, but not in a bad way. Approach this game with a relaxed, contemplative sort of mindset & the "discovery hunting" mechanic can wind up clicking pretty well.
Thanks, bud! I really dig it too. They did an excellent job on it. And lol I don't blame ya. Big reason why I loved it so much is it goes perfectly with the Luigi rainbow glasses perler I got from the same booth last year 👍
Rolled credits for Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land. Wanted to fire up something shorter after MOUSE & this was a delightful choice. Kirby's physics always take me a bit of getting used to, but I also come away from his games still having fun. Wonderful graphics & music are the icing on the cake.
Rolled credits for MOUSE: P.I. For Hire. The excellent rubber hose aesthetic & quality voice acting grabbed my attention, then the solid FPS action & mystery that unfolded kept me hooked the rest of the way. Plays a bit like DOOM, just with more mice & cheese than demons. I had a good time with it.
Haven't bought a new game in a lukewarm minute. Think I'm gonna go with the recent MOUSE: P.I. For Hire.
Rolled credits for Resident Evil Requiem. When they said it'd be part horror & part action, I had some flashbacks to awkwardness with RE6. But I gotta admit: this game turned out to be RE at some of its very best. Grace sections crank up the tension & Leon sections are in-your-face fun. Good stuff.
My copy of Lil Gator Game: Gator of the Year Edition is here! Talk about a complete tonal shift this'll be compared to the game I just started (Resident Evil 9) lol, but super cool to have it in the collection now all the same 👍
Pretty sure it was Nintendo Power that I got it from, but for several years as a kid I had this poster of Mario dunking on Carmelo Anthony up in my room lol.
That's awesome lol. Truth be told, I have an old bookmark I still regularly use too (like with the book I'm reading right now even lol). It's a promo for Pokémon Stadium 2. You can tell it was from back when it was still about to release because it says "Available March 28th" lol. Love it.
I guess the million dollar question now is do we think they'll retain/refine the real-time battles of Legends Z-A or are we going back to traditional turn-based? Either way, that first impression of Pokémon Winds & Waves was great. And a 2027 release gives the devs plenty of time to cook!
Brought last year's Pipistrello and the Cursed Yo-yo out of the backlog. Well worth it so far, I gotta say! Nails the gameplay of a traditional top-down Zelda but it takes place in the city so "dungeons" are buildings, malls & the like. The yo-yo attacks feel fun & the writing has me chuckling.
Rolled credits on Escape from Ever After. Was keeping an eye on this indie Paper Mario-like's development for at least a couple years & was *well* worth the wait. The visuals, gameplay, music, story & humor all work together in an experience every bit as enjoyable as the franchise it emulates imo.
