picked up a game called OFFBEAT the other day and its basically just a DAW with bunch of instruments that you can plug into a sequencer. its so fun! felt like I was cooking with the last half of this one!!

An option I really like reccomending is the Nikon EM from 1987, its an SLR camera so has removable lenses. It works best with ‘AI’ lenses from the era (automatic indexing). The body can be found verrrry cheap (mine was £20) and AI lenses also can be found cheap. Details in alt text again

Nikon EM with a 28mm lens.
This camera is so nice to use and very easy to shoot. The viewfinder is also nice and clear. It also feels very well built, with all metal construction.

Back in the day this was marketed as a beginner camera and so it is a bit simpler than a normal SLR; You can only shoot at ‘Auto’, 1/200th or bulb shutterspeed. There are no other options as you are intended to use auto all the time. This works just fine for me, but If you want a bit more control you can get other nikon bodies from the same era and you’ll have all the benefits of the cheap lens system and silar build quality (they tend to be a bit pricier to start with though)

Nikkor 50mm F1.2-F16 prime lens (yes F1.2 lol)
The most expensive lens here by far. I believe they say it is one of the sharpest nikon lenses ever made, and i can believe it, especially when you shoot at F2

Nikon 35-70mm F3.5-F22 kit lens
Don’t use this one much anymore, but it was great for getting started.

Nikkor 28mm F3.5-F22 prime lens
This is a decent wide angle, quite small and light.

Nikon 70-210mm F4-F32 zoom lens
This thing is a bit of a behemoth and I had to repair it recently because some screws fell out inside. I also have a fixed 200mm

Nikon 200 F4-F32 prime lens
Haven’t actually used this much but it was dead cheap and much smaller than the 70-210. Fixed 200m feels very challenging to shoot with

I would recommend getting a cheap point and shoot from the 80s or 90s. They can be a bit temperamental but i’ve had mostly good experiences with mine. I’m on my third at the moment. Thoughts on each of em in Alt Text!

Top: Canon SureShot AF7-S (newest)
I picked this one up because of the huuuuge viewfinder. You can see in the pic that it is 4x the size of the one below. My favourite camera at the moment, its everything the autoboy does but better, and its not even that much bigger

Middle: Canon AF35M (Autoboy)
This one started struggling to wind film, but the button you have to turn the flash off is in a really awkward spot and doesn’t work all the time so I had wanted to replace it for a while. Really over sensitive shutter button (all in all, not a fan)

Button: Olympus AZ-1 ZOOM (first camera)
Loved this one, but unfortunately broke it in an accident at a theme park 🥲 Zoom was nice to have and I like the flash slider.
