They don’t even need that. Farmers are not poor. They used to be poor but their assets have greatly appreciated in value since then. What they often ARE is broke, but that’s different.
That isn’t the only reason, most experts seem to think we literally can’t keep this up long term. Extraction costs will keep rising, and when the Arab countries rebuild they can just slightly undercut our costs to rip away market share, same strategy as before.
