“Get the fuck out of my way,” Angel snaps. He hears the slightly-uneven padding of Husk’s footfalls and the rhythmic sliding sound Pentious’ body makes against the floor, probably to get a closer look at the shitshow.

“Give Charlie a chance to figure something out!” Vaggie’s voice comes out like a command, but the truth of it is written all over her face - she’s begging.

He can’t keep himself from yelling again, and now that he’s really set off he can’t stop, his hands flying with his words in ways he can’t even consciously track. “Figure WHAT OUT, Vaggie! If the fucking sunshine princess of Hell could stop them, they’d be stopped! The only reason she’s even fucking around with this redemption BULLSHIT is because it’s the only idea she thought could stop YOU from MURDERING US!”

He relishes in Vaggie’s flinch.

“But YA KNOW WHAT!” he keeps shouting. “I think Heaven’s got the RIGHT idea! Don’t you? Where’s your fuckin’ spear?” He steps right up to her, staring her down. “C’mon, take me outta my misery. You’ve led us ALL on long enough by now. I’m gonna die in a month anyway if you don’t, all because YOU didn’t tell me I was BEING WATCHED last night and I fuckin’ DOOMED ALL OF US!”

“I lied. I shouldn’t have lied, but I still believe in Charlie.” Vaggie enters an eerie sort of calm, her chin lifting and her arms relaxing back down to her sides. She says with conviction, “I won’t hurt you anymore, Angel.”

Angel really wishes he had something in his system right now to make the pain from her words less sharp. He goes for making her uncomfortable. “C’mooon,” he whines. “I’m askin’ for it.”

Vaggie remains unphased, staring unflinchingly back up at him, but then—
