Dia 14 & 15: Finished up in Venice. For now...that's a wrap on this Italian adventure. After putting in nearly 20 miles walking each day, running for trains & busses, navigating ZTLs & transportation strikes...we are very much looking forward to being home again. Ciao for now!
Dia 11-13: Brescia, Lake Garda and Sirmione. 1st up the Roman Archeological Park of Brecia, then the spectacular Grotte di Catullo and Archeological Museum in Sirmione, Roman Villa and Antiquarium of Desenzano del Garda
Dia 9-10 Donnas and the surrounding area: Roman Bridge that survived the bombing in WWII, the Arch on the Road to Gaul and an old private aqueduct (didn't even know that was a thing)
Dia 5-8: Turin and Aosta. Egyptian Museum and the Royal Palace of Turin. The museum was underwhelming, but the Palace and gardens didn't dissapoint. Then a Roman arch on The Road to Gaul in Aosta Valley (Donnas) and the Roman Theater in Aosta (under renovation)
Dia 3&4: Fair Verona ❤️So much more than we expected. Walked 20+ miles each day, visited monuments, shared moments & caught a match. The thing is...EVERY other street you go down has something beautifully unexpected, historical or charming (sometimes all three). Now in Turin & Aosta for a bit
Dia 1&2: Aquileia and Trieste. Basilica and Torre in Aquileia, Roman Forum of Trieste and Miramare Castle (former home of Austrian Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian & his wife, Charlotte of Belgium). Off to Verona in the morning
