Ed Anderson, CBE, Doctor of Laws Ed’s career as a public servant and business leader spans local government, aviation, finance and civic life, and he has helped to shape the city of Leeds and the local region - as well as serving on the University’s Council for 15 years.
Peter and Susan Cheney - Doctor of Science The couple are long-standing supporters of the University and Peter is a Leeds alum. They established the Cheney Fellowships, which bring outstanding scholars from across the world to Leeds to undertake intensive research in areas of global importance.
Rachel Lord, Doctor of Laws. A Leeds graduate, Rachel Lord, stands out in her work to drive equality and opportunity in her industry. As the Senior Managing Director and the Head of International at BlackRock, she has brought in ground-breaking policies.
Tina Leslie, MBE, Doctor of Laws. Tina is a passionate advocate for social change and community wellbeing. In 2016, Tina founded the charity Freedom4Girls, which has been instrumental in tackling period poverty in Leeds, the UK, and internationally.
Steve Rosenberg (@bbcstever.bsky.social), Doctor of Laws. Political correspondent and Leeds alum, Steve studied at the School of Languages in 1991. He went on to work at the BBC, later becoming their Russia Editor. His journalistic work in the country has earned him widespread respect and praise.
Ellie Kildunne, MBE, Doctor of Laws 🏉 Women’s Rugby World Cup winner and BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award runner-up, Ellie uses her platform to inspire the next generation, challenge stereotypes and advocate for women’s sport.
Alongside the class of 2026 graduating this week, several honorary graduates have been recognised for contributions to their fields 🎓 England rugby star Ellie Kildunne MBE and renowned political correspondent Steve Rosenberg are among those who received honorary degrees from the University 👀👇

Work to restore heathland, meadows, woodland, peatlands and rivers in the uplands of South Cumbria begins as part of a new project supported by Defra’s Landscape Recovery Scheme 🌳 The work will help the recovery of animals in the wildlife haven, such as the tree pipit, pine marten and water vole.
