As she did her tail swung straight into the tiny human who was standing his ground in front of her, slamming into him with the force of a car accident and sending him flying across the campground and into a broad, thick tree trunk.

He wasn’t expecting to have to discuss gender with a six-year old, and all things considered he’d have much preferred to have done it with Riley – who he had ensured to have been as much help to as possible when they told him and John that they weren’t a boy or a girl – instead of this irrepressible force of nature that he’d only just met roughly ten minutes previously and while they were all still out in public. “...yes, in that case I am.” “You were born a girl?” Jay sucked air through his teeth in annoyance. “Yes. And then I got better.”

“How’dju do that?” The wolf stared off into the middle distance for a moment, glimpsing Riley at the other end of the aisle, and gripped the handle of the trolley tighter. “You know what, I think I left a...food...on the shelf…” he murmured, pushing forward and rolling after Riley instead of answering Robin’s question. This would have been so much easier if she was older or he was drunk, or ideally both at once, but he could see this spiralling into a black hole of more and more questions until he was having to explain plush sharks or binders or that no, Riley’s gender and their love of weird dorky indie music had no connection whatsoever.

re: that massive crashout from paint last night...turns out while it *is* still bad it's not *as* catastrophically awful as we thought since it only applies to 'realism' and not furry art/writing, so we are still safe

unfortunately we only found that out this morning after paint spiralled to a dangerous extent about it and a couple of us had to step in for our collective safety after she deactivated all our accounts and very nearly deleted our fa/ao3 as well.

we're going to be taking at least a week off from here until she's hopefully better, the last week has been awful for her for a lot of reasons and this was more or less the final straw mentally...on her behalf i'm sorry for how overly dramatic that exit was as well, she's hugely embarrassed about it and we're keeping her from being the host for now so that she has time to recover
