My first wood project off the lathe and haha wow. It's made of discard pieces I found here and there, and I used it to gift two earrings I made. Fully aware many mistakes were made, but that's a good education. Love a first pancake. #art #woodwork #idontknowwhatimdoing #artistsofbluesky

A slightly be-fucked wooden box on little brass legs. It's made of maple burl so it's kinda brown gold wood that swirls and has some holes in it, and on top is the raw edge of the burl that looks like a caterpillar melting so all it's little legs are sticking out everywhere.

A photo of a whale shark, which looks a lot like a gray spotted coin purse with a shark motor in the back. This one has some cuts on her mouth from some kind of altercation, but is curled at a sassy little angle checking out the camera. She did a couple passes of me and the camera before returning to filter feeding. Whale sharks are staying later and later in the Revillagigedo Archipelago as climate change causes the waters to stay warmer longer. What a horrible ecological nightmare we're going to have to live through. Are living through now, even.

A chain of salps that look like three condoms were filled with translucent veiny ghost dicks and then were sealed shut, severing the member with bled a tiny bit of ectoplasm, here indicated by a reddish brown area that is actually the salps organs. These guys are a heavy hitter in the oceanic carbon cycle, once again reaffirming the age old truth- "you don't need opacity, just some audacity."

This was the first year I did the 11 person family feast;. buttermilk brined/herb roasted turkey, gratin dauphinois, haricourt verde amondine, chestnut stuffing, & a pecan/radicchio salad. For Christmas I fixed up and digitized some of my grandma's old slides but some were too damaged to be worthwhile, so instead I tried using them as reference photos and recreated them, filling in gaps from memory, by painting them by hand. A large and very colorful female Pacific red octopus changes colours to send a warning to the camera person, me lol. She has cascading colours from deep blue, to magenta, to orange, to yellow, and has white spikes on her skin to match the surrounding white coral. In the lower left is a small yellow octopus hiding in coral. He is yellow with dark brown eyes, and has his mating arm extended towards the female and one eye turned towards the camera.
