A side reason I like making kid-sized quilts is that they fit pretty nicely on my sewing table + cabinet when I have the machine lowered to make one big surface area.

Sudden storm, sounded like a freight train for 10 min. Downdraft or Tornado, who knows. But it shredded trees and a carport in my apartment complex. Lost power briefly. #Lancaster #PAweather

Could not be a more start illustration of the division between political parties in the USA. 70% of GOP people surveyed believe that Trump made the right decision, despite rising oil prices and follow-on inflation.

Getting this quilt top ready to go to the longarm quilter. Between the fabric & the design, I decided my eyes would go crazy trying to do even simple stitch-in-the-ditch quilting, so I’ll pay for this one. My go-to quilter does such excellent work (Guided Star Quilting, here in Lancaster PA).

Seeing little crocus flowers is the first real sign of Spring to me. This was today at Longwood Gardens, a quick trip to see the blue poppies, which were cool. But the crocus flowers were the best, because I’m so over winter.

Current project. Current mood. Started last weekend as the bombs fell half a world away. I’m still sewing in between contacting my congressional reps. The bombs are still falling. People are still dying, half a world away.

I was at a museum I. Baltimore today that featured artwork by a Holocaust survivor. The parallels of her story (told in more than a dozen artworks) made me see so clearly ICE is the American Gestapo now, the behaviors she described, we see on today’s news reports.

In happier news than what you’ve probably been reading today, I finished my first “kid quilt” of 2026. I had fun doing a crazy geometric-style quilting & added it in purple to the white border. Feels good to have made something to pass along some love & kindness in this crazy world.

Child-sized quilt using a tumbler pattern with bright flowers of all kinds, a white border with purple quilting, and a final border of light purple with differently sized and colored circles on it. Finishing touch is a dark purple binding.

I received my intent earrings today, and they are wonderful, and inspire me to EXPLORE (my 2026 word). Thank you for the creative push I know I’ll need this year, looking at these earrings in the mirror will remind me to get out there.
