I still have my original copy of the Secret Garden - a Puffin book from long ago . I still have A Little Princess by Frances H-B too. My copy of Anne of Green Gables was more modern - I gave it to my daughter - I'm hoping she'll pass it on to my gd.
This little guy is 2 years old but didn’t develop its adult plumage( or it was damaged). It’s very tame and usually appears if I’m in the garden. I haven’t seen it for a week and was worried the heat had killed it but it’s appeared today😍
Hope you’re not away too long.The thought of your absence has made the ancient one distinctly grumpy.
I do like a nightie. PJs are great for chilling out on the settee but a nightdress has a certain something!

Nothing to do with the content, but an interesting reflection on how books have changed in 50 years - I suspect the print in your editions is twice the size of that in mine - or perhaps the paper is just better quality!
The roses are spectacular this summer. This is “For your eyes only” which will flower all summer if it’s dead headed

The main part of my garden is about 60’x20’. I’ve planted 12 small trees in it - fruit , flowering and ornamental. I’m sitting in the middle of- here it is - looking at its best this time of year. 🌱
I’m off to my Latin class this morning- always enjoyable! This evening is the preview of an exhibition that includes one of my paintings- wine and canapés will be consumed!

I guess my point is that it’s not innate- like most skills, learning techniques, then lots of practice, experimentation and evaluation. I imagine you have to do the same to be a good fisherman!

In 1956, I persuaded my dad to give me 5/- (25p) to buy this for my Mum, thinking she would love it. She put it on the mantelpiece, then a bookshelf, then the back of a cupboard till it politely disappeared from view. I gather it's now a collector's item, available on Etsy for a mere £35.🙃
