Earlier this summer, campus reform 🙄, published an article focused on little old me, and even asked AI to create an image! I wanted to share it because it has been making chuckle. The “lawsuit” in my hand is 😂.
Um, I have recently learned about Professor Umbridge and this latest educational decree is strikingly similar to UC Reg 2301, which Peyrin Kao was accused of violating. 👀
Fight like a professor! Or better yet, like professors fighting together for academic freedom, shared governance, free higher education, and against contingency. @aaup.org
It was a full house last night! I left with an invigorated sense of purpose and a nourished heart. I really think Daniel’s book “Unions of Our Own” gives unionists the tools they need build a better world!!!
I read this interview w/Intizar Husain, one of South Asia’s most celebrated writers, & I think of the tragedy of generative AI. Not only do the LLMs steal his words-but so they also create a structural reality in which too few people will pick up the pen in the form & w/the imagination that he did.
They are a scourge. I want this coverage to focus on the environmental, labor, & public good devastations that will be wreaked on our lives. If we define “public safety” in those terms, AVs are the least safe forms of transportation out there.
This was an amazing AMR #lsa2026 with Aziza and Neville. If you haven’t read their books!!
Instead of using Biblical teachings as motivation to fight food insecurity and increase food access, this Christian content creator is using the Bible as a recipe book to fight Satan.
Remarkable to hear Dani MacVicar - the 2026 Sam Dubal Fellowship Recipient at UC Berkeley - deliver a lecture on their research on community crisis care work. Sam wld have been so deeply engaged by it. They spoke about how crisis (naming it) is an attempt to contain the unbearable. That stuck w/me.
It was a grotesque & myopic decision to frame a devastating war—with all its civilian casualties and global impacts—in terms of how it will affect Americans who summer in Europe.
Lunacy. Has she ever had a teacher or been in a classroom??? Yeah, let’s just replace the teachers who negotiate the intellectual, social, & emotional learnings of our children with a scrap of metal.
Self driving cars collect several hundred terabytes of data in one day. Where does that data about our lives and movements go who has access to it?
Everyday, this guy says insane things that reveal (1) the extent to which he hasn’t a clue about the relationship b/n knowledge production and human life, AND (2) his own deep moral rot.
Carrying about jobs, the environment, and democratic participation makes me a dangerous ideologue!
Nonsense. We know how AI systems work!!! Why the mystique and anthropomorphizing. They are machines.
In the US, Legos come in plastic bags separated into different steps. In Brasil, they come in paper bags. Turns out corporations can change their behavior if you actually make an effort.
In Silicon Valley, amidst a conservative elite political consensus, the library continues to be a site of critical thought and resistance. I love librarians!
Well based on his most recent note to me, maybe he could work on being nicer.
“To be nice” is my 6yo’s New Year’s resolution. I think he’s pretty nice to begin with but won’t complain about this aspiration
Incredible: the DoJ acts like the Assoc Dean's interest is "diversity issues in medicine" is a red herring that the UCLA Med School is acting in violation of the EPA. What a way to start the complaint.
In a city of billionaires, taxi workers who were swindled by elected officials are still begging for debt relief. As driverless Waymos circle them, 40% of medallion holders have had their medallions foreclosed upon. Likely hundreds are in bankruptcy. Others have died from the stress. #debtreliefnow
