Coverage stats just became more local 🚆 viaduct patrons can now view coverage by region — like Bundesland, province, state, ... See how much of a region’s rail network you’ve already travelled on, directly in the statistics page and the coverage map. Also new for all: flags in the country chart 🌍

It was a longer wait, but finally: vehicle statistics have arrived in viaduct 🚆 For trips with rolling stock info, you can now explore your journeys from a vehicle perspective: how often you rode an ICE 4, your average speed on a TGV Duplex, and more. What should we add next?

We extended our timetable data! 🚆 Big news for users adding trips in the USA and Canada: you can now use timetable data to add trips faster. Europe benefits too, like we now show timetable data for the Baltics. Missing something? Let us know! Further improvements already on the way.

Are you familiar with train station codes in your country? 🚉 viaduct can now search stations by code, like EUS for London Euston or MAN for Manchester Piccadilly. Just enable it in your Settings.

Share your trips and journeys as pictures 🎟️ Our new sharepic combines your route map with trip or journey details, plus a few extra design touches to make it look good wherever you post it. Open a trip, tap the Download button, and share away. Better basemaps are already in preparation 🛤️

Data Check 🔍 Quickly spot issues in your trips before they affect your maps and stats — like negative durations, unrealistic speeds, missing routes, or low-quality geometries. Fix them or ignore them if they’re valid.

More detail to your routes 🚆 Smooth curves now replace jagged edges, and the maximum zoom level is higher so you can explore journeys more closely. Most routes were updated automatically. A few kept older geometry, and you can find them in the new data check.

Happy World Public Transport Day 🚆 A global reminder of how public transport connects people, places, and regions.

Hundred Valleys 🚆 The Centovalli Railway runs 52 km between Locarno and Domodossola, crossing 83 bridges and 34 tunnels along the way. We rode it in 2022 and it was fantastic. Still a bit of a hidden gem compared to bigger names, but absolutely worth it.

Chicago → Pacific Northwest. The Empire Builder spans 3,500 km in ~46 hours, crossing the Mississippi, Great Plains & Glacier National Park 🚆 With sleepers, dining car & panoramic lounge, it’s built for slow travel. At viaduct, more timetable data is coming soon also outside Europe.

Private rail in Europe has been expanding recently 🚄 New routes: Paris–Berlin (European Sleeper) Amsterdam–Hamburg/Berlin (GoVolta) Vienna–Villach (WESTbahn) Warsaw–Kraków (LEO Express) Which ones have you already tried?

Fjord to mountain ❄️ A short ride from Narvik up to Bjørnfjell. The Ofotbanen was built for moving ore, and that’s still a big part of what runs here 🚆 Mostly a steady climb, with views opening up along the way.

Romania is a special destination for rail travel. Some journeys feel like a step back in time, especially aboard CFR Class 77 railcars – vehicles over 90 years old still running regional services. Add scenic routes like the Olt Valley and the experience becomes unforgettable. 🌄

Southern Shortcut ☀️🚄 First spring sun = head south. Yesterday we travelled from Vienna on our first ride on the new Koralmbahn — a real gamechanger for southern Austria. Carinthian lakes (and even Italy) just got closer. Bonus: tried the brand new WESTbahn trains starting service today.

Sunrise in Paris. By early afternoon, you’re in Barcelona. More than 1,000 km on a double-deck TGV Duplex. Fields, vineyards, the Pyrenees — then Mediterranean light. Under 7 hours. Direct. Twice a day.
