Had this roommate in college who, sleeping in the SAME room, kept his 6AM ALARM SNOOZING FOR 2 HOURS EVERY MORNING. OUR EARLIEST CLASS WAS 9AM.
The new "dire wolves" dont even look like real dire wolves. They look like GOT dire wolves. Real dires have a WAY more southern range than grey wolves. Why would a temperate to tropical wolf have white fur (only arctic wolves have)? Its GOT. Fantasy creatures are cool but arent reversed extinction.
I cant find a peer reviewed source supporting that 99% figure. Both lineages split over 5 million years ago. Their similar appearances are bcs of convergent evolution, like flying squirrels and sugar gliders. Other canids have as much genetic similarity as wolves do to dire wolves.
Apparently they're not dire wolves, just CRISPR edited grey wolves. It's like saying you "brought Trex back" but it's a big chicken. Kinda weird for Time magazine to make that a headliner, considering its clickbait.
