lover of all things that don’t give me anxiety. I post frivolities, things that make me happy, Sunday dinner menus, and good memories.
I ended up going to Greystone Mansion today which is truly an LA Hidden gem in Beverly Hills, and it’s free! It was really beautiful.
It became necessary for me to visit the Really Expensive Stone Fruit Farmer at the farmers market again. So. This is just to say that I have William Carlos Williams’ plums in my icebox right now.
Went to Disneyland yesterday and serendipitously saw the Falcon 9 rocket launch at sunset which was very cool. Rode Toy Story with Matthew Beem who is apparently famous and the young folk were quite excited. Spotted a beautiful coyote roadside on the way home.
My contribution to the ongoing DoorDash discourse is these sheet pan nachos which took like 10 minutes tops to throw together on a day when I worked, parented and got a flat tire on the way out of school carline. Bonus - very little cleanup.
Screenshotted this from a Buzzfeed article about foods locals don’t really eat supposedly and this is 100% UNTRUE and why is a person from NC commenting on what Floridians do. I can confirm that we legit eat key lime pie here for real and ALL THE TIME. it is not just for tourists. I’m outraged🍋🟩 🥧 💚
I asked my daughter to make the Thanksgiving menu this year and this is what she came up with. I think it’s pretty legit. I love how she specified that she did not want a homemade apple pie. 😂
I don’t usually like coffee with no cream but the Cafe de Olla came in a pretty terra cotta mug and it was so rich and fragrant that it truly didn’t need the dairy. ☕️ 🇲🇽
I have been unexpectedly gifted a large and beautiful loaf of olive bread!
I was driving kids around all day and waiting on them at the mall so rather than sit around, I took myself on a date at a nice restaurant and got a pumpkin parfait with a gingersnap.
Dolphins in Chokoloskee Bay, Everglades National Park. The purest magic.
I was poking around and found a picture of my great grandmother when she was young. Made my day. This is Elta Hill Lane:
So my Florida bestie is in Portugal right now and I’m in SoCal and I swear to you her pictures of the Portuguese coastline look exactly like it does here. I took a cliff walk along the coast today as a matter of fact.
Trying new perfumes in the Guerlain store today and I have to tell you all - Bergamote Calabria is really delightful.
Here I am all dressed up so the doctor doesn’t think I’m gross. I literally have no memory of the last time I wore lipstick, yet here I am. 😂
I’m so proud of this smoked salmon board I made. We decided to have a Fathers Day brunch instead of a dinner and everyone agrees this was a very wise decision. It was deelish. Bagels from Bagels & Co. Wilton Manors were 💯 ⭐️
I made these homemade ramen bowls for dinner and realized I won’t eat anything in them and that I just like cooking stuff but not eating it so I’ll be having waffles w pbj for dinner bc I can’t eat pbj on bread since it’s too mushy. Welcome to life as a picky person.
This morning my daughter and I got up early and walked to a fantastic coffee shop about a mile away and split a passion fruit iced matcha and a sourdough burrata toast with orange marmalade, which sounds weird but was delicious. We had the best time and even enjoyed the walk home. Nice morning. 🍊
I enjoyed the squeaky cheese curds. Great texture. Nice and salty. Fries were mid. This might be better with homemade fries. Overall MEH. But I tried it and ate a decent portion of it so good for me eating out of my comfort zone!
Coconut lime sorbet update: it’s good, however I feel it’s much more of an ice cream texture from the fatty coconut milk than a sorbet. My husband said it tasted like key lime pie so he put graham cracker crumbs on his bowl, which was a nice touch.
