Nuclear energy generalist, with dark past in science, activism, and live action role playing. Currently working at OECD/NEA as nuclear fuel specialist, here in personal capacity.
Piti tuo tutkimus kaivaa (kun linkkiä ei uutiseen mahtunut ja totta turiset. On muuten hirveä spinnaus jättää tuo mainitsematta. Eli, politiikkasuositus tämän perusteella voisi olla nostaa veroja joilla pieni vaikutus jotta vältytään julkisen talouden suurivaikutuksisilta leikkauksilta?
They’re just envying people actually living the Batman dream in Batman of Batman.
Vaatimuksesta esimerkki, jossa eniten altistusta saava saa alle 0,1 mSv/vuosi (luonnon taustasäteilystä tuleva annos suomalaiselle noin nelikymmenkertainen tästä). Ja tuo esimerkkihenkilö on luontaistaloudessa elävä vain paikallista ruokaa syövä henkilö… www.stuklex.fi/fi/YVLD.5-pe...
Yet at the moment France is exporting (those arrows tell the direction of electricity flow) to all its neighbours. So there is no lack of electricity at the moment, at least compared to its neighbours. (Heat wave challenges most production - low wind, thermal issues, low water level)
Normaaliperusviivasin sijaintini. Kerran elämässä voi sanoa tietäneensä missä on.
The idea was to streamline the processes so that nuclear energy would be ”in line” with other energy sources, with appropriate steps in decision making. But no worries, there’s quite a lot of requirements, still. If you look at the proposal, these are conditions for construction permit alone.
Today -15 C, forecast for the new year -27 C. Fortunately ice is a good insulator.
For some reason my feed is full of people claiming baseball is the best game ever. FYI, a little more than a hundred years ago a Finn Lauri Pihkala saw baseball being played and found it wanting. He created something greater: pesäpallo. End of history.
Well cultural purity norms can be relaxed for a day or night. Happy Kekri to y’all, landowners remember to get properly drunk in order to guarantee good harvest next year.
Thanks for the thread! And since airplanes were mentioned, guess what I saw in person couple weeks ago! Reactor goes into the drum, hot air flows towards viewer’s right.
Just for today, it’s about staying alive. Saving the world is for tomorrow.
Well originally Israel claimed Iran was weeks away from working weapon whereas others assumed couple of years. Now Israel claims their actions delayed Iran by years when others say by months. But at least all agree now that Iran is few years away from working weapon.
Reading the timeline again, maybe I should not be expecting to be informed about my paper’s acceptance after all. Topfuel2025, let’s do the Time Warp agaaaain!
This week we had the spring meeting of FIDES-2 (second framework for fuel irradiation experiments) in Aix-en-Provence. For me, my first meeting working as the secretariat for Technical Advisory Group. I had been a TAG member since the beginning of FIDES, but now on other side of the table.
Third day of IAEA SMR Conference and Stephane Sarrade opens the meme game. Sarrade chairs Generation IV International Forum, which has been facilitating Gen4 reactor development for, well they invented the label in early 2000s. So he is very happy for recent investment to advanced reactors.
Andy Crabb from AtkinsRealis describes how RR SMR design benefits from using metadata to guide the designing the placement of modules and how architchts can help turning 2D designing into 3D optimization.
Second day of IAEA SMR Conference. Frank Moran of CEA presents their work on heating reactor where secondary circuit is actually a pool of water. It actually reminds me of the operation of giant heat storage being planned in Vantaa that relies on similar thermocline function.
Sarah Wilkin from Fly Green Alliance discussed how much synthetic fuels are going to be needed and how there is a need for steady supply. And Scott Edwards of Core Power wants to put the reactor onna boat.
Now at IAEA SMR Conference in Vienna. I will be presenting some open access SMR models (co-)developed at VTT. But that is for tomorrow. Today, big shot panels on SMRs and on new applications. Here on industry panel Janne Liuko from Helen discusses their nuclear energy project.
This week we launched SANE project, Safety Assessment of Non-Electric uses of nuclear energy. Investigating potential uses, safety of heat reactors and of direct coupling to end-use such as H2 production and direct air capture of CO2, and risk communication.
Hesarin etusivu.
Today something completedly different. Participating in Swedish Strategic Research Foundation’s Agenda2030 Research Centre’s programme review board. Uppsala University and medical research project today.
Taas on aika jolloin paikallinen jääkerros huolehtii lämmöneristyksestä. Talvipyöräily on kivaa, paitsi kun pyörätietä ei aurata ja tiellä roadragettavat autoilijat mieluummin ”kouluttavat” kuin käyttäytyvät.
Couple days in Vienna at IAEA TWG-GCR (technical working group on gas cooled reactors) meeting. Here presenting Finnish situation and grabbing all the information on gas cooled reactors I can get. Because who knows, high temperature reactors to Finland too?
