Not that this is new though. YouTube did (and I think still is doing) something similar but it felt like it got swept under the rug/accepted a lot faster, for various reasons. At the least they allow credit cards? I wonder if Discord will do something similar if they (rightfully) face pushback.
The cynic in me thinks that they're doing this just to incorporate AI into their platform more
