Tour de Fleece day 20. Plyed the second lotus fiber fractal spin. Enjoying this woman's dying so much I think I'll just go ahead and spin it up. Really too bad she seems to have shuttered her Etsy shop and has no other web presence.
Another week of spotty Tour de Fleece spinning, but I have spun the singles for this second hank of lotus fiber from Pan's Garden. Doing a fractal spin that I will ply today. Not a lot of time left, so I might just play with the plant samples today - at a tribal festival tomorrow.
Tour de Fleece day 14 Finally had time to do some spinning. Worked on the other hank of Lotus from Pam's Garden. Got most of the first bobbin done - another fractal spin. Maybe try one of my plant fiber sample pack for challenge day later
So I had to switch to my Clemes and Clemes. I did quick and dirty chain ply so it's funky as heck. My new Majacraft Woolee Winder came yesterday as well, and I used it to ply the lotus fiber today. Said good-buy to the Ashford knowing it was in good hands.
Tour de Fleece days 8 & 9. - Day 8 I finished spinning the second half of the lotus fiber and let it rest. I pulled out my Ashford wheel and accessories as someone was coming to buy it. Two bobbins still full with probably 15 y.o. yarn, quickly chain plyed up. Except my Kromski's drive band broke 1/
Tour de Fleece day 3 was a fibery day! Spun ~1/3 of the second bobbin of lotus fiber - very short runs (split approx. 1 oz into 5 not-even bits) so the ply should be interesting. Then my Tour de Fleece shirt came, As did more plant fiber. And I skeined up the yarn I was finishing up to prep for TdFl
Tour de Fleece day/stage 2: Half the Pan's Garden lotus hank spun, the other half divided into smaller pieces for the second bobbin. More full day, and then it's back to work for 4 days, so we'll see how long it takes. At least some spinning every day at least is the plan.
Day 1 Tour de Fleece. Lotus fiber from Pan's Garden. This (on bobbin and basket) is 1/2 the hank. A mirror colorway. More than halfway on this bobbin, 32 WPI. Planning a fractal spin.
Tour de Fleece, plant fiber palooza, day 1. First uPaloma, fiber from Pan's Garden Yarns, who appears to be not producing right now, which is a shame. They do lovely dying. This will be another fractal spin
For whatever reason, started playing with this merino/Firestar sampler pack recently. Need to ply these off today in prep for my Plant Fiber Tour de fleece. #spinning #handspun #TourdeFleece
My Hippy Ridge Fibers non-4-footed fiber for #TourdeFleece came! Details in Alt text. Never spun mint or pearl top. Not used to buying such small quantities, maybe @lionesselise.bsky.social will go for yarn rather than figuring out what I can do with bits and bobs. #spinning #handspun #plantfibers
Yesterday was lovely. I wore this UNR* Pride Shirt. UNR's mascot is the Wolf Pack. When I worked at UNR a group of us got a rainbow UNR logo approved and added to the collection available in the University book shop. I, of course went out and bought one as soon as they were available. 1/4
I've figured out my #TourdeFleece spinning. A dear and talented friend, @lionesselise.bsky.social cannot tolerate "four-footed fiber" no sheep, alpaca, yak, camel, etc. We have talked about my making something for her. I have some rose and lotus fiber and just bought some more plus some mint 1/2
The shawl is off the loom, fringe twisted, wet finished. All #handspun. Details in alt text. Proportions aren't the best, but it quite soft and yummy, despite near disasters. #Weaving #handwoven #spinning #handspinning #Strickland
Got through enough of the other things I had stuff, and screwing up my courage, I started weaving the shawl. I am so paranoid about having enough yarn so I am throwing in all the handspun in the colorway family, and will separate different spins with warp yarn. #Handweaving #handspun #multishaft
Warp beam loaded. Some day I'll calculate my spools right - had to spin more black/grey plied, wind more spools for the black. Now I have to figure out how to space the extra heddles. Only 8 epi and using 24 of 26" that's a lot of heddles to disperse. #weaving #handwoven #handspun

I still need to set the twist on the Sterling and the Sterling/Fancy Crow ply, but all the yarn for a shawl has been spun. Going to use the black and grey for warp, the colored yarn for weft. Not sure of set or weave yet. Yarn description in alt text. #Fiberarts #handspinning #weaving #handwoven

Sunrise today. Looks like the atmospheric stream is getting closer - before the precipitation it provides beautiful skys #sunrise #photography #westernskys #skysky #SierraNevadaMountains
Won't! The 4 oz of yak/silk from Greenwood Fiberworks is spun, about 45 wpi. Let it rest, then chain ply. Other images the unspun fiber; yarn made with the same fiber/colorway; and the same colorway in merino/silk/cashmere #handspun #handspinning #fiberart
My mom (on the left) was an Air Evacuation nurse. Died at 101 in 2021. She would have been so honored
Have fun! Here's a blanket I spun and wove. Turned into a breed study - spun single breed yarn. A lot of it is Shetland or Jacob, but also Finn and Gotland. Claimed by Ms. MO Boudreaux before it was even dry after wet finishing.
Pictures of my new Little Gem ready to spin, folded up, in its bag, & (next post) on my shoulder. It's certainly going to be my go-to for travel. If it didn't have a Willie Winder on my Kromski Sonata, another travel wheel, I'd have to let it go. #SpinningWheel #handspinning #Majacraft #FiberTools
My #Majacraft #LittleGem came! So cute, a bit of a different spin, but quite lovely. It folds down to nothing, is feather light (especially compared to the Suzie!), and the bag is great. I didn't want to fold it so that twho and tell will have to wait. #SpinningWheel #handspinning #tools #fiberarts
