Fighting for courts that serve the people, not the powerful
Blanche doesn’t care if January 6th rioters continue to go on to attack innocent Americans, he cares about pleasing President Trump, giving him the power to do whatever he wants. @durbin.senate.gov
Jay Clayton was asked a simple question by @ossoff.bsky.social: say who won in 2020. He refused. This is the guy who'll brief Trump on election security. He can't even admit the 2020 election was real.
Blanche’s tenure as Trump's Acting AG can be summed up in his four words: “I love you, sir.” As @durbin.senate.gov called out during Blanche’s confirmation hearing to be Attorney General, Americans deserve someone who respects and defends the Constitution, not loyalty to one president.
🔍What corruption are we going to see in the next few days? Probably lots! Check out our Blanche Bingo card for today and tomorrow’s nomination hearings of Trump’s personal lawyer for a permanent Attorney General role.
Todd Blanche is nothing but a pawn for Trump and his powerful friends. He boasts about pardoning January 6th rioters, and he's still covering up the Epstein files. Trump doesn't want an Attorney General who will uphold the law, he wants one who will do whatever he wants.
The Supreme Court needs fundamental reform, and today, @delauro.house.gov called out what Americans demand: a Supreme Court that answers to the people, not just Trump and the billionaire class.
The Supreme Court doesn't think it has to answer to anyone. Seven years without answering questions before Congress tells you everything. Tomorrow, Justices Amy Coney Barrett and Elena Kagan will *finally* appear before the House Appropriations Financial Services and General Government Subcommittee.
Most voters expect to disapprove of Trump’s next Supreme Court nominee before he has even named one. The top reason is the fear that he will pick someone more loyal to him than to the Constitution. demandjustice.org/interested-p...
To make the political system work for working people, we cannot have the Supreme Court working only for billionaires and corporations. Watch this clip of @weareufd.bsky.social's Stasha Rhodes making that case at our Supreme Court reform event.
ONLY three months. That's how long Anna St. John has been a judge on the Louisiana Eastern District Court, and Trump just tapped her for a lifetime seat on the 5th Circuit. Senator Blumenthal called it: she's reciting talking points, not the truth.
Gutting the VRA on incorrect data, ruling on behalf of billionaires, suggesting that any compassion for criminal defendants is too much.… SCOTUS is so blatant in how beholden to power they are, that even normie senators are over it. Watch our President Josh Orton on the @majorityreport.bsky.social
Demand Justice and @indivisible.org are teaming up to take on a potential Supreme Court vacancy. Trump has flooded the courts with MAGA hacks to serve corporations, billionaires, and right-wing extremists. SCOTUS will be no different. If this fight happens, we will demand: #NoTrumpCrony.
Today, we're announcing a SCOTUS campaign expansion aimed at the Republican senators who know exactly what's coming – including Tillis, McConnell, Collins, Murkowski, Cassidy, & Cornyn. Trump will choose his nominee for one reason: loyalty. We'll be ready to expose them. And we'll be ready to fight.
This is Citizens United on steroids, and a giveaway to the billionaires who bankrolled Trump's return to power. This Court doesn't serve the people - instead, it hands more power and control to the billionaire class. This corrupt Court cannot stand. It must be fundamentally reformed.
A Supreme Court that hands unchecked power to Donald Trump and his billionaire backers isn't a court working for the American people - it's a tool of oligarchy. And we must build a movement to bring long-overdue reform.
The Supreme Court changes only when people make it. @courtacctability.bsky.social's Alex Aronson said it best at our event: the Court is the Wizard of Oz. They’re not deities, they are accountable to the people.
Again and again, this Supreme Court has shown it has one goal: protect the powerful billionaire class at the expense of everyone else. The American people are sick and tired of this elite, out-of-touch Supreme Court, and we must build a movement to bring long-overdue reform.
@warren.senate.gov says she's heard it again and again: "Well, Demand Justice says this, but damn, you just can't satisfy those people." We won't make it easy for representatives, the Supreme Court and the judiciary to fail the American people and only represent the billionaire class.
Trump’s judicial nominee Domenico (10th Cir.) can't keep his dodge straight. @blumenthal.senate.gov pressed him on who won the 2020 election. Domenico tried to excuse himself by pointing to now-Justice Jackson's hearing. Blumenthal shut that down fast: she was asked a totally different question.
Was the assassination attempt on President Trump an attack? Trump’s judicial nominee Domenico (10th Cir.) thinks so. But was January 6th an attack on the Capitol? Judge Domenico won’t say. Trump doesn't want his crony judges admitting to @blumenthal.senate.gov what actually happened that day.
The numbers don't lie. A new GQR poll on behalf of Demand Justice found the American public made up their minds on election denialism. Trump's judicial nominees haven't. Senators who vote to confirm them will have to answer for it. demandjustice.org/interested-p...
"Demand Justice is going to play a major role in the next presidential election in making sure that the Supreme Court doesn't stand in the way of plans to unrig the economy for working people." Read more from our President Josh Orton: @newsmax.com: www.newsmax.com/politics/dem...
January 6th was just “activity”? Really? This would be funny if this wasn’t the nominee for DOJ’s Inspector General. DOJ's own watchdog nominee Don R. Berthiaume, Jr. can't say January 6th was an attack on the Capitol. Trump’s crony judges lie yet again to protect the Donald Trump’s ego.
Justice Alito gutted the Voting Rights Act using misleading and wrong numbers. The DOJ chose a methodology that produced the result it wanted. That's not judicial independence. Graphic: @theguardian.com
CAUGHT: @kaine.senate.gov asked Deputy White House Budget Director nominee Hal Duncan who won the 2020 election. Duncan would said Biden was "certified." But when asked about 2024, he said "Trump won." Either Duncan believes conspiracies, or he's too afraid to say Trump lost. Neither is acceptable.
A judge loyal to the Constitution doesn’t avoid answering what happened on January 6th...but Republicans voted for Justin Smith to have a lifetime position as an eighth circuit judge.

"Gobbledygook." That's @welch.senate.gov's word for what Judge Traynor did at his confirmation hearing instead of answering a question. Traynor signed a letter calling Columbia an "incubator of bigotry," a political act. But ask him who won the 2020 election? Suddenly that's too political to answer.
The 2020 election results are not a political controversy to anyone except Trump. It's why @blumenthal.senate.gov called out Trump’s judicial nominee, Judge Traynor, for refusing to say who won. If they cannot tell the truth, they have no reason to be confirmed to these seats of power.
Abraham Lincoln warned that if the Supreme Court gets to make all the calls, "the people will have ceased to be their own rulers." He was right. Look at what this Court has done: gutted your voting rights, handed billionaires the economy, poisoned your drinking water... we can't let up.
