I brought Eloise around to the porch in Alvadore so the property owner could pet her. I’ve been grazing there for some years & she’s become a friend. Sadly she was diagnosed w/ pancreatic cancer last fall. Though caught early, treatment has been hard. I thought some lamb therapy might be in order.
Lemon balm grows naturally on our property. I have about 1.5 acres of it without any effort! Each day I harvest some for the animals, especially the poultry and bunnies. They love it! #lemonbalm
Laurie and Lettie (mom/daughter) are inseparable. I find that goats form very close relationships. Not that sheep don’t love their offspring but goats are next level. I think Lettie would die of a broken heart if she were ever separated from her mom. #angoragoats
I’m so proud of Hazel, my beautiful four year old Gotland x BFL, who I have cherished from her first day on the planet. This fleece was her winter clip while she was pregnant with twins, a truly amazing fleece. She has always been a standout in every way. #blacksheepgathering
It’s with pride & love that my beautiful Hazel tied for Reserve Champion in the best overall white fleece, after taking 1st in her category yesterday at Black Sheep Gathering. That’s an amazing honor. Hazel beat out many finer wools like Rambouillet, merino, etc. 1/2
Look at this cutie patootie. One of Ebony’s twin lambs is a real love. I originally had planned to name her Eliza, but one of the property owner’s great grandchildren suggested Eloise. I like it for her! 💕🥰
Weather should be quite nice again today with highs in the 70°s F. I’m continuing my inspection on my show fleeces for Black Sheep Gathering. I have one week until I take them up to Albany for entry. My hands are getting pretty tired!
Hermione and her mom Fat Hazel got their summer dos this afternoon in my Alvadore group. Hazel is still fat (hence the name). The last pic was of Hermy when she was a little lamb with Hazel. Also taken in Alvadore. These girls simply glow with golden luster after I get the wool off.
Saw this on the pump at the gas station today. I’d laugh if it weren’t so painfully true.
We’re still in the late spring heatwave here which should break tomorrow. The sunrise had blue/purplish tint that accompanies unseasonably warm weather. All the animals are okay, well watered and plenty of shade. #pnwsunrise
Idyllic scenes this afternoon. We’re all waiting for Moofie the Icelandic yearling to finally lamb. Really should be any day.
