When an insult becomes a movement. After students in #India were called “cockroaches,” a Dalit student turned the insult into a rallying cry — & the Cockroach Janata Party was born. 🎧 #IfYouWereInCharge with @sanambna.bsky.social & Kavita Ramdas: podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/i...

A ceasefire isn’t the end of conflict — it’s where the hard work begins. Peace lasts when agreements are monitored, trust is built, & violence is prevented from returning. ICAN’s @sanambna.bsky.social on Channel 4’s #TrumpWorld: www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMjo...

How much do we value peace? We spend millions on technology to determine whether a footballer is offside. Yet, we invest a fraction of that in the diplomacy & implementation that make peace agreements work. @sanambna.bsky.social on #TrumpWorld: www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMjo...

Sanam also challenged us to focus on the future we're trying to build—not just the crises we're trying to solve. "What are we for should be the organizing principle." Thank you to @odi.global for convening such an important conversation. 🌍
On 6 July, ICAN's @sanambna.bsky.social joined @odi.global's inaugural conference on where culture, storytelling & policy meet. Her message: facts alone don't change minds. Building peace requires narratives that inspire action, trusted local voices, & accountability from those in power.
🗣️ #WPSWednesday: In 2021, ICAN & Shannon Foley Martinez published a case study on white supremacist extremism in the US. This analysis is more important than ever to understand the role of gender & identity in extremism & what positive alternatives exist. icanpeacework.org/2021/10/gend...

At “No Wars, No Tyrants”, @sanambna.bsky.social challenges a familiar piece of political rhetoric: that war creates freedom. Instead, isolation & #militarization strengthen authoritarian systems — while openness, civic space & inclusive peace processes create the conditions for real transformation.
🗣️ #WPSWednesday: “Attacks on children should not be viewed as mere collateral consequences of war; they must be understood within a broader framework of rights, identity, & collective survival. #Gaza has lost lives & an entire generation’s future.” www.eurasiareview.com/30062026-isr...
