Arrow UK has finally announced their release of the A Better Tomorrow trilogy from directors John Woo & Tsui Hark. And it’s no surprise that with their upgrades and additions— this looks definitive. Plus it has gorgeous artwork from the late, great Tony Stella (RIP).
Apparently, Shout Factory fucked up the audio badly on the new 4K release of Romero’s “Day of the Dead” and are vehemently denying it. I can’t think of any instance where they owned up to a mistake and offered disc replacements since 4K releases became a thing.
That’s a crazy jump from joking about Tony Khan talking smack on TNA, man.
I would pay so much money for a complete box set of the U.S. Seasonal films. I love them all, especially Superfights and Bloodmoon.
My brain still has trouble fully comprehending stuff like this. What do you mean the bizarre, low-brow, buddy cop HK actioner “Pom Pom and Hot Hot” will be available to watch on the Criterion Channel in July? That’s crazycoocoobananas to me.
Holy crap I just made a joke about that before seeing this comment.
Amazon currently has the full uncut Blu Ray of John Woo’s last universally acclaimed film, the epic Wuxia “Red Cliff” on sale for $13. If you don’t have this one, that is a pretty unbeatable price. a.co/d/06eZuw7G
I’m only halfway through the series but I think I like “Baby Assassins: Everyday!” more than the film entries. Yugo Sakamoto always seemed more into the “slacker hangout” vibe character piece aspect than the “What if John Wick but w/ more red tape?” thing— which suits episodic TV more than film imo.
I am always amazed when I rewatch a 90s-era film, that left a mediocre impression on me back then & I hold zero nostalgia for, that leaves me thinking, “Goddamn, that movie fuckin’ rips!” “Soldier” is the latest example. We have lost so much craftsmanship in the last 30 years of filmmaking.
Apparently the Toy Robot video releases are coming sooner that I thought. Cover art for their releases of MOTU and Guyver 2 are already floating around the ol’ internet
Clearly this person was not looking to have an actual conversation. “Concern” trolls are the worst
Boutique label ERROR 4444 just posted a sizzle reel of upcoming HK film releases and it is full of bangers that I’d never thought would get a Blu ray disc release. To name just a few: Widow Warriors, The Dragon from Russia, & (most excitingly) Pom Pom & Hot Hot!!!
Rewatched “Innerspace” via the new Arrow 4K and it reminded me of a fundamental truth: Martin Short dancing is joyous.
I don't normally do this kind of thing anymore but motherfuck both of these smug, irony-pilled jackoffs. Alan is a damn fine critic, an OG of the game, and (most importantly) a good dude. Heaven forbid someone fucking like something you don't. Couldn't block these shit stains fast enough.
