L) Wonton Lasagna w/ a filling made of ground pork, sweet pepper, bamboo shoots, fennel, and water chestnut, garnished w/ sesame seeds, and served w/ dumpling sauce & sriracha. Paired w/ Steamwhistle Lager. R) As there were leftover wonton wrappers I decided to make Wonton Soup the following week.
A couple more mid-to-late 1930s cars in 1:35 scale from the COBI Bricks Historical Collection. They go with the vehicles from the LEGO Indiana Jones sets that I've been gathering for one of @mmdaviesostrom.bsky.social's works-in-progress...
Norway wasn't at the Mexico '86 WC, so it doesn't have an entry in the '86 WC Team Cocktail Booklet, which means I had to find one for them. Without further ado I give you the Norwegian Wood, recipe by Jeffrey Morgenthaler (drinking-thinking.com/post/norwegian-wood-cocktail-recipe)
Still have to add in an electronic scoring system, but here's the LEGO fencing piste I've been working on, now with a custom Olga Kharlan minifig taking on an opponent...
A Canadian Leopard 2A4 MBT in Ukrainian service. As you can see, the Ukrainians have added a lot of ERA to it in order to up-armour it. This was a SEMBO German Leopard 2A6. It was grey, but I gave it a NATO camo makeover (lots of tile swapping w/ the formerly tan & green WOMA MIL MI-24 HIND).
Wednesday night's D&D Cocktail: a Negroni using a coffee & hibiscus infused Campari and one of the simplest gins in my cabinet (to see if I could tease out the hibiscus flavour). Spoiler: I couldn't. The coffee overwhelmed everything, including the grapefruity bitterness you usually find in Campari.
Post 4 female characters you love and pass it on.
Dr. Emmett 'Doc' Brown presents his DeLorean-based Time Machine, Mk. I, to several members of The Fellowship of Mad Scientists (inc. Professor Frink, Dr. Henry Wu, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and his trusted associate Beaker, and the Monster Scientist [CMF Series 14]).
New-ish LEGO CITY Police Car (60312 [c. 2022]; left, rear) to join my existing Police Patrol Car (60239 [c. 2019]; right, front). They keep the Speed Champions sets in line...
Last night's D&D Cocktail: the Amsterdamage, using the sample of Dutch Genever my friend Kate gave me some time ago. Recipe, from Difford's Guide, is equal parts genever, triple sec, and dry vermouth, w/ a dash of orange bitters. Stir w/ ice until chilled, then strain into a chilled coupe glass.
Some previews from the custom LEGO minifigs and such I've been putting together for this project, for which many of the old Indiana Jones sets have been thematically perfect...
I didn't have a vyshyvanka to wear for #VyshyvankaDay. What I did have was Ukrainian beer and a #NAFO glass. So, Happy Belated Vyshyvanka Day! Happy Belated 4th Birthday to NAFO! Cheers to Kama & all the other #Fellas out there fighting the good fight. #NAFOExpansionIsNonNegotiable
Project FLANKER, my re-skinning of a Chinese knock-off of Brickmania's Soviet SU-27S into Ukrainian Air Force SU-27 P1M 'Blue 58', is done. Sadly, however, the real Blue 58, from the UAF's 831st Tactical Aviation Brigade, was lost on October 10, 2022. RIP Colonel Oleg SHUPIK.
Paper Plane, made with Willett Rowan's Creek Bourbon, Aperol, Dillon's Black Walnut Amaro (and lemon juice, obviously).
It's been over a year since I made one of the 1986 FIFA World Cup Team Cocktails. There are three left to go: Hungary, Mexico, and USSR. Wednesday night's cocktail was Team Korea (Republic of Korea, aka South Korea) w/ some minor modifications as I couldn't find a ginseng liqueur...
Final digital camo scheme for my Ukrainian SU-27 P1M 'Blue 58' (a re-skinned Chinese knock-off of Brickmania's original Soviet SU-27). In its SEAD configuration it carries: - 2x R-60M AAM - 2x AGM-88 HARM - 2x ADM-160B MALD - 2x R-60M AAM (under air intakes) - 2x R-27ER AAM (centre line)
In a misguided attempt to secure stable funding for Muppet Labs, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew agreed to participate in a joint research project with Umbrella Corporation and Dr. Henry Wu of InGen, located in a repurposed lab on the Jurassic World site. "Blue for the virus, green for the anti-virus."
Cherry Manhattan (or is it a Cherry Rob Roy?), recipe from The Glenlivet website. While the actual recipe calls for Glenlivet 12 year-old, I used Glenlivet Nadurra 16 year-old.
The line-up from Saturday's 'The Glenlivet in Focus' tasting. Participants knew what four of the whiskies were (1, 4, 5, & 6), but not the order. When we started I told them I'd added a 5th Glenlivet to the line-up (3), along w/ a non-Glenlivet (2), and they had to identify the non-Glenlivet...
Creamy Roasted Sweet Pepper, Carrot, and Ginger Soup, recipe from Always Order Dessert (alwaysorderdessert.com/2015/01/creamy-roasted-pepper-carrot-ginger-soup.html), served w/ an oat yogurt swirl & bacon bits.
Honey Old Fashioned using Glenlivet Nadurra 16 year-old...this bottle has been open for at least two years, and I'm trying to finish it, hence the 'The Glenlivet in Focus' virtual tasting I'm hosting this weekend...
Stolen from somewhere on FB. Have no idea who the creator was...
I give you the Holy Trinity in LEGO: Saint Javelin, Olha Kharlan, and the Ukrainian Army Cat Lady.
Also, need recommendations on hair-style...which of the photos would suit LEGO Olga Kharlan better:
Should LEGO Olga Kharlan be carrying: a) the sword the base fencer minifig comes with (it's an epee, and the real Olga Kharlan fences sabre); b) a pearl gold sabre/cutlass; or c) a grey sabre/cutlass? References photos below...
A pair of 1:72 scale Ukrainian Air Force jets: 1) SU-25 M1K 'Frogfoot' w/ LEGO pilot minifig; and 2) Brickmania MiG-29 MU1 'Ghost of Kyiv' (which I've posted previously), w/ the 'Ghost of Kyiv' pilot minifig. The stand is borrowed from the 1:330 scale AN-225 I posted a few days ago.
Last night's D&D Cocktail, which was itself my belated Saint Padraig's Day Cocktail: The Holy Joe. It's another Manhattan Variant, using Irish Whiskey (1.5oz; recipe calls for blended, I used a single pot still) and sweet vermouth (3/4oz), w/ apricot brandy (1/2oz) & Cynar (1/4oz).
Progress Update: only a few small tweaks to do and the colour scheme should be as-close-to-accurate-as-I-can-get. So much so that you can see I committed and put the stickers on. Also, note the change in design in the AAMs from the previous post.
