Jelly! I did a 53 hour ride in June, then an 8 hour ride, then a 9 hour ride. I love riding on trains, even in the USA where we’re running about 40 years behind everyone else.

30 days away from home and boy, howdy, did I miss this guy. Even if he howls a lot. At 7am.

For those following along, my 30 day journey back east has come to its conclusion. I get to sleep in my own bed again. It was a great trip. I’ve been up since 1:15am MDT and am not going to last much longer… the dogs are very happy I’m back.

Here’s another one to care about. His name is Odin, and we got him from an absolutely certain-doom situation after he’d been roaming the countryside with a bad leg (caught in a hunting trap) for six weeks of winter in frigid Utah. He weighed 35lbs (he’s been at his healthy 68-70lbs for a while now).

Today I visited the Ben & Jerry’s factory in Vermont and it was glorious. Here’s me with my favorite flavor, the 6th most popular overall flavor last year. What’s your fave? Bonus: marshmallow sky was today’s special tasting flavor. It was superb.

Cannot make this stuff up. Carbon dioxide at poisonous levels.

Today I visited Capitol Hill Books and East City Bookshop, and I loved them both. Last night was Solid State Books. What a crop of great bookstores in the area!

I love it! And in case there are Pennsylvania people here, my tattoo artist is Joe Ball at NICE INK. And his talents are definitely wasted on my nerdy and specific ideas but he is a great dude and a great artist.

Hello IOWA!

Oh hey Denver! From here on out it’s all flat country and long stretches of rail. I had my early dinner after reviewing the 41st sub to DOOM SCROLL for the trip (if you’re waiting to hear from me it should happen on Tuesday or Wednesday prior to stokercon’s opening events—no internet here.)

I stay away from doors on airplanes, cliff edges, and now, these objects on trains. 🚂

Past Reno. Some very beautiful and some very strange scenery today. 8 hours into the journey and I’m already worried THERE’S NOT ENOUGH TIME.

My 55-hour Amtrak journey starts here tomorrow morning. I’m excited! Slow travel ftw. Headed to StokerCon.

It’s our third night at the sphere, and I have kind of had enough. This place is a lot, and it takes a lot from the music. It’s weird. I’m glad I am here, but no need to return.
